Talked to Mike yesterday Bill. He just bought a new Vette (and before you ask, yes he STILL has the blue 67, I have to get it running again). The Chevelle is mostly back together, He wanted to see if I had a few parts for it. LONG road for that car, even I haven't seen it since the eighty's since it went to Gamache in 1989. I have the only existing pictures of the Chevelle, and those of Big Doug's car Mike had. Mike went partners with Doug just on that Camaro. The 67 Marrakech express was just Doug's. Doug had a sad ending, dying from complications of heart surgery fairly young. Here is a picture of the 67 in it's heyday, sent to me by Mike Mcarthy (Mike had a copy, but it was damaged). This was the era when Mike and Wayne (Mcabe) ran Provincetown autobody. A guy (who still lives in Ptown) named Kenny Gregory worked for them, and did this custom paint. He did a few cars, and he really had an artistic talent for the designs. I never saw one people didn't like. And before somebody asks, yes, those are Tubular automotive custom made headers.

----Thanks for the update. I was with Mike and Wayne at Carlisle the day they re-discovered his Chevelle. Too many beers were swallowed after that day at the swap meet just laughing about that!

It was always fun to drive in the yard the week after Mike came back from Carlisle. I worked summers full time for him throughout the eighty's. When I drove in the yard that morning, a clapped-out, yellow primered 67 Chevelle was on the trailer with "67 SS drag car" 1500.00 on the windshield in shoe polish. All I could think was "Why in the hell did he buy THAT?". Walking up to the front of the car, the same thing happened to me that happened to Wayne. I saw the tach cable hole on top of the dash, and I knew it was his old car.

WINTERNATIONALS Pomona 1970, was the inaugural Pro-Stock event. I was lucky enough to be there. These pix had been stuck together for 50 years, separating them was was challenging. Here are the ones that survived. - Bill W

Speaking of Winternationals, Tom Akin's LEAD SLED at NEITA Raceway (now Cedar Falls Raceway) Well known, it's one of two L72 '69 Kingswood wagons.

The LEAD SLED was a Dick Harrell Team Car and Top Stock winner at the 1970 AHRA Winternationals in AZ.
I remember this car brand new, rolling into the Schukei service dept. for John Day's race prep. - Bill W

2 Team cars? I ask because there are many more L72 Kingswoods that are known. I believe I have several Gibb dealer prep sheets for them as well. Here are some photos I got off the net years ago.
