Thanks for the response James. I just sent two original sets of '70 hoses off to be re-plated, but was hoping there was a "new" source for the correct crimps. From the few individuals I've spoke with, no one really wants to do single crimps due to potential liability issues.

after looking at it... it's a leaf type die with multiple wedges which squeeze together in a cone type hydraulic press drive the cone in further it crimps tighter and tighter. The shape of the die leaves which contact the collar is an elongated ellipse with the ends lopped of. EASY if someone has an old set of dies. IF SOMEONE has DIES they can be reshaped on the ends even if you have to weld them then reshape them by hand.

Is there overspray on the tank straps? If I recall correctly, they were installed and hanging when the car body went through the paint booth so the will have a strange overspray pattern. Here is the underside view of my untouched, white 73 SD455. You can see that the overspray comes from the sides of the car and a little from the rear

Really enjoying the progress on this car! Can't wait to see it all together...

Couple of minor tidbits to mention.

My 02A 73Z still has the original 854 battery cable. Yours might be one of the last of the 855's that were used, or perhaps they just installed a leftover cable that was still a correct fit?

Also, I believe the Z87 splash shield on the side of the cowl gets installed on the front side. Mine was upon disassembly. I'm sure others could chime in and verify if it should be that way...

Keep going !!

Correct, the gasket seal is bolted from the front side.

Some shots of the color for the wheels...
This was mixed using the old PPG Lacquer formula tint names TRANSFERRED over to same tint names in AXALTA in the same quantities.
NO FLATTENER YET and NO TEXTURE

SEM TEXTURE COAT SHOT FIRST!

Seen a few cars where the straps are the body color, based on having the Z21 option. Search the topics at Nasty Z28 as it was discussed in length a few years back.
