The link posted only shows option codes. Exception Control Letters were the two [sometimes three] characters after the option code seen on factory docs. They were used to specifically identify the parts [and possibly assembly labor time] required to build a certain option combination. For example, C60 is air conditioning. C60 with a 6-cylinder auto is C60AH; with the base 8-cylinder C60BC. They can be extremely specific; Z22 Rally-Sport has 31 that I know of. Some options seem to only have one; VE3 [and others] is AA. Floor mats [B37] have five for the different interior colors. Sometimes it is possible to figure out what the code applies to, often not.

Yes, they are known to be specific to performance options.

Kurt and I have been logging them for years; often makes it easy to spot repro or altered docs. But we don't know them all. They were determined by Engineering and only docs for Corvettes have surfaced. Chevrolet did produce an internal report, often listing option sales by ECL. I don't believe a complete report including 1969 Camaro extended production is known.

Thanks William. This is insightful. In the coming week, I'll connect with you directly as to why I inquired.

Thanks,
Dan
