Looking at the car above it should have the black body sill - the area below the rocker molding. Only the X66 COPOs had the black-out tailpan (like the 396 SS) which this one has.

Thanks Lee. I didn't know that there were any COPOs that were anything other than X11 and X44. You guys amaze me at how much you know about these things. Were there any others besides the X66?

Using Chevrolet’s COPO, in October 1968, Yenko ordered 50 1969 Camaros with the RPO L72 engine under COPO 9561AA (M21 four speeds) and COPO 9561BA (M40 Hydra Matics).

In mid January 1969, Yenko received his first order of L72 COPOs, with Fisher Body trim code X-66. The X-66 trim consisted of a black painted rear panel and rear quarter louvers. A second group of 100 were ordered in November 1968 and began arriving in February 1969. These cars did not have the blacked out panels and louvers and were coded X-11 (bright moldings and trim) or X-44 (no chrome accents). A few more orders were placed before the end of the model year. Most COPO Camaro historians agree that Yenko ordered a total of 201 1969 Camaros for SYC conversion.

Amazing that people still use the 201 number when the guy who said 201 changed it to 198 over 30 years ago

Mine was sold through Colonial Chevrolet in Norfolk VA, and has X44 trim code. Would be neat if that was a picture of it, but I'm not sure it's the same car.

looking at the hugger orange Yenko in the above pics I think I see vertical trim on the tail lights but no trim on the headlight bezels. if its an X66 I don't think it should have the trim on the tail lights if its actually there .

What it should have and what it got may be two different things? And then the restorer of that car may have got it wrong? My buddy’s silver/blue copo, @ this year’s sYc SCR, has vertical tail light trim and is a X44. Doubtful it was changed after leaving Norwood. It is a time capsule of sorts.
And then, I don’t think it is folk lore as I have talked to too many former Norwood employees, employee car’s sometimes received “ embellishments” not on the RPO order.
