Re: Swap Meet Fun
Dennis, find anything at UVSC? I heard there was over 440 cars at the show, good for a rainy day. Not alot of parts I wanted. Got a nice BB Chev "198" intake. Saw a AM/FM bluelight, some BB exhausts, not much else. Brent

Re: Swap Meet Fun
Nope....came home empty handed well almost..My wife bought an old "jug".
Had lots of fun looking, and did manage to talk to some guys I hadn't seen in a while. My buddy is looking for a project car, but we didn't find anything suitable. Ole Chip had a ROUGH '34 5 window coupe for $16.500...Jag rear, fresh SBC, body palenl patches Screwed together... Some nice stuff in the car show as usual, lots of nice Mopars, lots of street rods, but only a handful of "real" SS Chevys. Did you see the Yenko "sort of clone" 69 Camaro? Some day I'll make it to Pomona...for a "real" swap meet!

Re: Swap Meet Fun
Or you can trip a little east where there were lots of performance cars. Say to Peotone Illinois fairgrounds on June 13th for the 5-6-7 Chevy clubs' swap and show. I used to haul truck loads of stuff out of there. Not all Chevy (and all years), but mostly. And no, Rodney Brockman didn't ask me to post this . It's worth the 2 hour trip for me. Opens at 6am for everyone.

Re: Swap Meet Fun
Rodney doesn't have to advertise that show anymore.
Next to SC Indy's swapmeet,& Jefferson Wisc.,Peotone is one of THE best Single Day Swapmeets in the Central US. I can never get there early enough. |

Re: Swap Meet Fun
I don't think I'll be able to make that one, as I have a trip home to Northern Minnesota planned for the end of June.

Re: Swap Meet Fun
There were flood warnings, but it wasn't raining at 4:00 am so I headed out anyway. It was worth the two hour drive! I used to sell the same parts I am now buying to put a car together. I wish I had everything back I ever sold. I sold it all too cheap. Glad you had a good day too.

Re: Swap Meet Fun
We weren't the only ones from this board that were having a good time at Peotone yesterday. While I was walking around I saw a little white Chevy pickup with Illinois license plate YENKOSC parked between two of the buildings.
There are a lot of people that like to keep good swaps like this one a secret. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................

Re: Swap Meet Fun
Finally got sick of bidding on overpriced online items and put a wanted ad in the local paper for 69 camaro parts. I got 1 call and a really nice gentleman sold me 2 fenders, deck lid, some glass, 2 doors, heater control, and a dash pad for a decent price. Granted not perfect parts but I like the old vintage GM stuff verses repops.I Couldn't believe I didn't get any calls for a parts car or a wrecked car. I know of 3 cars in my area but the owners are going to "fixem up someday" the search continues.

Re: Swap Meet Fun
You don't have to get to Peotone too early. I bought 6 Hurst shifter from one vender at 10:30 Sunday morning and one of the shifters had a 1969 Camaro big block shifter mounting bracket and correct big block rods and levers. And to think I was going to stay home because of the weather...Crash
