Default Headers for 68 Camaro

Trying to find a set of 1 3/4" headers for 68 Camaro with 396 and power steering. I've contacted Hooker, Hedmen, Dougs to no avail. I can find 2" but looking for the smaller tube for performance. You would think I have the only 68 w/BB and ps. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul

Patriot makes what's been reported as great fitting headers for Camaro's. Here are their 1.750 size for 68 Big Block 396 in black, clear and ceramic coat.

Maybe give them a call?

I see they have 1-7/8" and full length, but they are 2" as well.

I hear you; and sympathize. Everyone thinks "bigger is better". Not on a street car.

Hope you find some good fitting 1.750 headers for your big block. Way better on the low end, and almost no sacrifice at higher rpm.

I remember an article I read on one of the car mags back in the 70's (I think it was Car Craft, but not sure) about the 10 most common hot rodding mistakes. The one that really stuck with me was "more's law" ... i.e. if some is good, then more is better.
Talked about guys wondering why their street cars would run worth a darn with the "gigantor 909 camshaft".

The key is well matched parts.

Default Headers for a 68 Camaro

I'd go with the 1 7/8" primary tube size, after all it is measured O.D.(outside diameter). The I.D.(inside diameter) would be very close to 1 3/4". Best of both worlds and easier to find. Hooker & a lot of other makes use 1 7/8" as standard, and Hookers clear everything!
