Re: undercoat removal II
al,
what type of material are you using to blast with? Are you worried about "warping" body panels?

Re: undercoat removal II
Has anyone had an issue with warping panels when blasting? I have had cars blasted with sand and had no problems when the blaster moves quickly and knows what their doing. I have heard stories, but never experienced a problem.
ALbert, Looking fantastic. Thanks for sharing! Jason |

Re: undercoat removal II
Albert, I'm very impressed that you do most/all of your own work.
Was media blasting equipment and air compressor rented for this project or yours. Say something about what equipment consisted of ? As others asked, what media used. Thanks

Re: undercoat removal II
Actually had a new guy come out to blast?..my regular guy is in the middle of moving to a new shop..play sand is what he uses..cheap and not too abrasive (very dusty though).had a nice pull behind compressor and a large pressure pot type blaster that worked amazingly well!!..as for warping panels..I dont let him or anyone touch ANY flat panel..although he was very aware and cautious of what kind of damage he could do. I like the new guy..6 hours pf blasting at my location..1000 lbs of sand....329.00$..and he did a very nice job!!..also had him do the perimeter of the doors, back side of the trunklid..header panel and some other stuf. He's coming back next week to do a Camaro subframe and other parts for another project Im doing at the same time..plenty of work for the rest of the winter!!

After he was finished with what was once a perfect hood, I ended up throwing it away and luckily found another mint one. The sand blasted hood was warped beyond belief. ZAPPER |
