Default 1966 Corvette 427 4-speed Roadster survivor

Other than a little damage on the passenger fender, this looks like a nicely optioned original paint survivor... matching numbers too.

That seller is just south of Lincoln Nebraska. Have not seen the car but looks cool.

Only chiming in because I have a 4-Star (soon to be 5-Star) 67 390 convertible...

That thing is a driver. Would never pass Bowtie judging. Too much changed, altered, massaged. No mention of real tags, motor, nose. To bring it back to survivor status would be very time consuming and some of the parts are almost impossible to find - i.e. real paint valve covers, patina exhaust manifolds, OEM take off exhaust, hardware, hoses, etc.

I’m not knocking the car as a Corvette - I actually like it so much I sent it to my brother for a once over as a car to pursue, but the issue is that it maybe clean and tastefully altered as necessity throughout the years (headers, exhaust, valve covers, etc are almost trivial), but in the world of Corvette prestige, it’s just a cool looking, low option 390 with questionable paint and interior.

Drive and enjoy it. For the deep pocketed pursuit, swap parts and attempt Bloomington Survivor and MCACN! Maybe a local NCRS Chapter or low score Regional TF.

Thanks Dan. My survivors are drivers... and the more I drive ‘em the more I appreciate having them. I posted this car with that in mind, but you bring up some good distinctions when using the term survivor.

Helmut - you and me both! And thanks for posting it up. White/red has been an absolute favorite of mine since about 16 years old when I saw a friend’s 66 L72 Vette convertible - a mere twin to this one just with side pipes and a hardtop.

Add to the suspect list - door panels, alternator (and brace) assuming it doesn’t have PS, heater core looks bypassed, fan is wrong, oil fill cap, wire looms for spark plug wires, air cleaner element, wheels, etc.

Good car just not as crisp as a survivor as claimed.

Dan

It very much reminds me of my 175,000 mile '67 blue/white big block. I left the paint original, found an original interior, cleaned the chassis, and replaced all the items that were incorrect with original stuff. It's a "tweener" that would not Bow Tie (aside from maybe chassis and paint), but I still call it an unrestored car. This '66 would take money and time to fluff, but they are still cool cars.

Dan, when you and Dave venture out to the Heartland to buy it, stop in and see us, our door is open!! You might even twist my arm to go look at it with you!
