Need expert input please!
A friend is considering this car . Didn't know the W31 option was available on a non-442! Was that true for W30 too?
Interested in accuracy of description and any "gotchas" you Olds experts may see. Thanks,

Re: Need expert input please!
The W31 option was not available on a 442 due to the engine being a 350 cubic inch motor. The W30 was only a 442 option and included the high performance 455 engine among other things.
You'll never see a W31 442. They are good cars, most of the 442 neat stuff in a small block car. Others on this site know lots more than me about Oldsmobiles. I love them, but don't have a tremendous amount of Olds knowledge. |

Re: Need expert input please!
It appesrs to be a good car. W-31 are impossible to verify without a build sheet or original invoice. This one has the build sheet and most of the original drive line. Check to make sure it has the correct balancer. The 350 trans is not a big deal. There were some calibration differences between a standard 350 and this one. As he states the trans was swapped out, that means the briveshaft has been changed too. Also the parkbrake cables may not line up (different location for trans mount on TH400.) TH400 used an rlectric kick down vs cable kickdown for TH350. If it is being purchased as a driver I would leave the TH400. If being considered for Pure Stock drags, then the Th350 needs to go back in.
I like it!! Price wise $40 to $45,000 is about tops for a driver quality car. I have seen #1 cars go over $60,000.

Yeah--what they said!
You have paperwork, the hard to find parts and a very nice looking car. Go for it!!
