North Carolina Chevy dealers were not the only ones to use special order paint: Carolina Blue (named after the color blue used by the University of No. Carolina). It is sometimes called "Tar-Heel Blue"

After Lee Iacocca had hired Carroll Shelby to make a race car out of a "secretary's" car . . . Which Shelby did . . . it came time to put a name to this creation. After discussions it was agreed that it would have "GT" in it's name. Finally, Shelby asked one of his engineers sitting at the conference table in the offices, "how far are we from the workshop?" The replay was . . . 350 feet.

And so was born the 1965 Shelby GT 350 moniker.

This photo of driver Ken Miles and his GT 350R with all four wheels in the air was shot by noted photographer Bob Jackson. Jackson's most famous photo was capturing Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald.
