Default A First.

So my wife and I head off to Frankenmuth, Michigan for the 35th annual auto fair. Along the way everyplace we stopped in Michigan there were help wanted signs posted at businesses and that is kind of like Ohio right now so that is pretty typical.

On the way back to Ohio on a Saturday afternoon - no less, we got off at a busy exit to get some coffee near Milan MI. First stop was at McDonald's and we found it partially closed and only operating drive through.

The sign at the locked door said "Lobby closed due to severe under staffing please use the drive through"

Next stop was a Tim Hortan's. Lady at the counter looked to be about 59 said sir "we are one person away from exceeding minimum staffing ourselves and I am the manager and I am doing counter work"

Again help wanted signs all over the place.

Anyone else seeing this?

Did you enjoy the show at Frankenmuth? I've been there for about 25 years now. 34 Ford sedan, Hemi powered. Black with flames. Radical chopped top. And yeah, there are "help wanted" signs all over the place here. Lots of skilled trades jobs available too, but few takers.

This show is one of the best kept low key events that is actually pretty massive in size and attendance. Yes it was a great show. I did see your car...Killer!

I'm an architect in Georgia and can say that work is really picking up. One developer client told me they are moving quicker to start project since material cost and interest rates are rising and there was no expectation of costs going lower in the near future.

Most contractors I speak with are very busy and able to pick and choose what they pursue.

I'm excited about the economy and joblessness getting better and better, just wish they would slow down on the interest rate increases. Increasing interest rates really hurt the housing industry, and my own personal HELOC, lol.

Businesses that require people to run are being limited in their ability to grow because of the lack of people to hire. I think about every single manufacturing business in my neck of the woods is actively hiring. More job jumping going on now as companies get more aggressive with pay/benefits to attract the few people looking for jobs. It will cycle as it always does. We are in the growth phase headed fast to the peak. You can expect the economy will peak and head toward a slowdown in the next 1-2 years.

The Frankenmuth Show is great. Been there before. A must is a stop at Zehnders for some fried chicken..

Reason nobody works is they are all collecting government checks for sitting on their duffs at home for all these alleged disabilities. I see it every day. Pretty nauseating if you ask me.
