Default Phase III Vega

I never realized how much money these cost. I think you could buy a pretty nice Camaro or Chevelle for this kind of money?

My 73 had stock factory front disc brakes and original 4 stud spindles as the front end was totally stock. The 9" had factory drum brakes. I had no chute and pulling the car down from 138 was never a problem. It wasn't one of those deals where I had to stand on the brakes with the tires smoking just before it went into the corn field.

I really doubt any of them were released without a 12 bolt rear. Every pic I have ever seen on a Motion Vega had 5 bolt wheels on the back. And if the car got into a lot of accidents do to stock brakes, I don't think they would keep releasing them that way.

I had a number of buddies who had all stock Vegas with just a stock 327/300 and they drove very well. I mean you could get in trouble with one just like you could with a V8 Camaro.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Ziggy, good info there about the front ends.

I thought it was the BB Vega that got the government's attention and put he brakes on the whole Motion Vega program? I would love to do a ZL1 powered Vega with a mini tub.NOt hug wheel, just a 29.5 x 11.5's. Easy 700Hp pump gas driver build for sure.

Yep, when Motion came out with the V8 Vega, the Feds stepped in. Think it was a product liability issue

I could believe it.We had 2 brothers who dropped a smallblock 350 & 4 speed into a Vega station wagon,added slicks,cragars,headers and painted,"Last Ride" on it's doors.
It was so squirrely & blazingly fast, you'd swear it was going to be your last ride.
They had to put a grab bar over the front passenger seat to give people something to hold onto.
I heard it didn't last too long before crashing during a street race..
