I've seen stampings like that are close to the raised area cause the letter to be distorted. I bet a better picture might show part of the missing letter.

I bought a lot of nos parts for my 68 L89 several years ago. Also traded him some that I had accumulated over the years. Talked with Jim several times on rest info.. Always treated me right. He had the car a long time.

Yeah in the picture shown, it almost looks like one side of a capital A
