Default 73 Z28 trim tag info

Hello,
One question, this trim tag is attached with screws, that's not right, is it??? The VIN confirms it's a real Z28.

Forgot to load photo on photobucket.....be right back with a photo.

Thank you. ktownkid

It looks like someone put screws into the existing rivets.

My 74 has those same screws, I asked about it here a while back and it is correct for a 74, I do not know if it is correct for a 73. My 72 has rivets.

A search on the www.nastyz28.com site will tell you the screws are indeed correct.

I believe the switch to screws occurred in late April/early May 1973.

Thank you gentlemen. The car belongs to a relative. I asked him if it was a real Z28 or a clone. He said he wasn't sure. Some people!!!!!! I would have to decode a car before I bought one!!!!! hehehe.....

Trim tag says yellow-white stripes, but it's blue now. He stopped at my house to show me his new 12 bolt with discs.

I said let's decode it.........

Thanks again,
ktownkid

73 = screws ok

There was a mid year change from rivets to screws. If there is a T in the 5 digit of the VIN its a Z.

Correct. A mid year change. My March '73 NOR build had rivets.

Yes.......VIN 1Q87T3N

Trim tag says it's supposed to be yellow with white stripes. I'm trying to find a photo of one like that on the 'net now. If you happen to see one.......

Thank you all again-
