I rebuilt a Eaton Posi for a guy several years ago that had been in a fire. When I checked the hardness of the gears I found that they were soft and had to be replaced. This was not in a car when it burned, but sitting in a shop that burned. Any metal that is heat treated and then in a fire needs to be checked to see if the hardness has been affected.

Am I the only one who thinks the rear axle housing looks warped?

Does not look like it got that hot aluminum valve covers are not melted or the tag on the transmission either. I even see a lot of paint left on the motor.

I took a good run at it and hit it hard but obviously someone wanted it more than me. It went for $8402.01. That's all the money for it I'd think.

IMHO, only worth that much to the owner of the car it all belongs with, and even then, top dollar without knowing how badly the fire affected it. And with the car known to be gone, well..... far better off keeping your money for a top-quality CE/CT drivetrain build.
