1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
I recently picked up a copy of the latest 'Vette magazine and inside I saw an article about a silver 1968 427 / 435 Corvette coupe that had been in storage for 20+ years and was just purchased through an estate sale. The car was 100% complete and, looking at the "after" pictures, cleaned up beautifully.
I am curious how a car like this would compare, in the collector world, to more well known Yenko cars such as the Camaros and Novas. Technically this Corvette is just a nice big block 'Vette that the owner had Yenko modify. Is a car like this viewed any differently than a SYC Camaro or Chevelle? (More or less desirable) |

Re: 1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
The silver 68 sounds like the one sold at mecum on Friday that was sold out of Yenko.

Re: 1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
I was thinking it was 70k. Not bad for 7000 mile 435.

Re: 1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
It sold for $85,000.00. 3 of the fab 4 Yenkos sold across the block and we are working a deal on the 4th one.
You can sign up for the Mecum infonet at no charge and see what the selling prices without buyers premiums are. |

Re: 1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
GOOD MONEY FOR THE CAR SINCE THE 68 WAS NOT AS POP AS THE 68 BUT BOY WHAT FIND, SUPER COOL CAR. I WOULD HAVE BEEN HARD PRESSED TO SELL UNLESS I HAD SOMETHING ELSE ALLREADY LINED UP, AND KILLER PAPER WORK. THAT RAISED THE VALUE OF THE CAR GREATLY. LET HOPE THAT THE ORGINAL OWNER IS SOMEWHERE AND KNOWS HIS PRIDE JOY IS ALIVE AND WELL. GOT THE NEW HEMMINGS MUSCLE CAR MAG TODAY. LOOKS LIKE THE CHALLENGER ARTIVLE IS GOIN TO BE A GOOD ONE

Re: 1968 Yenko Corvette survivor
So I guess I'll have to answer my own question based upon the final sale price for the '68 survivor. It would appear to me that the '68 Yenko Corvette, survivor with great paperwork or not, still doesn't appear to be as desirable to many as, say, a 1969 Yenko Camaro.
Maybe it's because I happen to be a huge fan of the early ('68-'72) C3 Corvettes but, I think I'd value that 'Vette just as highly as the more common Camaros but, what do I know? |
