I could not believe how long it took the secondary air flaps to open.Seemed like the carbs were wide open forever before the engine went full tilt.Joe shut it down at 6700 but was still climbing.Tom

They were run in the early 70s,kind of started life as RA Vs but they had no TQ off the corners so they were raced with RA IV heads and a Nash intake.Buck Baker and David Person raced the firebirds in the baby grand series. There are pics of their cars on the net. They used a unique block that was exactly like a RA V but had a drysump provision on the back of the cam tunnel. My block is engineering number one and does not have it.They used a 455 forged pistons with a 7.04 long rod made by MR.Rod Co.The cranks were 3in main forged units done mostly by Kellogs but I know Reath made some for the Bakers. My engine was designed as a IV but I built it as a V.If you go to the Performance Years site there is info on there.Search threads started by Tom S and will be easier to find.Tom
