In 1977 Gary Hoonsbeen, Minneapolis, purchased Polk County’s first automobile, a 1902 Oldsmobile, and after 5-1/2 years of work, restored it to near original condition. In 1985, he drove it from San Fran to New York in 38 days, averaging 12 MPH

the 1986 Subaru XT Turbo was the most aerodynamic production car sold in North America with a drag coefficient of only 0.29, which was only bettered by two other vehicles in the entire world

When we did the original Volt we were at 0.284. We were good with that because it allowed us to round down and advertise that it was 0.28.

The only problem was when we starting auditing the first production vehicles they were checking at .285, which would require us to round up to 0.29. We launched a very in depth investigation and were re-checking everything aero related (which includes every little skeg and bump, whether on the front or the rear of the car).

As it turns out those first production cars were building 5mm high. We retrimmed them out, dropped them the 5mm and got our 1 count back.

I haven't mentioned this publicly yet - but my wife recently purchased a 2019 Volt as her daily driver.

She is tickled to death. She is the least technical person I know, but she is calculating her mileage and figuring out the cheapest times to charge, and playing around with when to drive on the battery and when to enable the engine. All the data displayed in the car encourages you to be a hyper-miler whether you are inclined in that or not.

This is a woman that is so frugal she will turn the lights out while I am in the room. She keeps the thermostat in the bedroom at 59 degrees.

But - if she's happy, I'm happy. Literally.

When you ordered the front spoiler on the 70/71 Cuda - that's what you got. Ridiculous aren't they?

Good for her, Keith - and, as luck would have it, she'll have someone Volt-handy nearby along the way! Great car, too - we had a couple, went for a third and they'd been cancelled. Darn. More fun than one might think - never put a tire wrong!
