Default Ebay Sellers Take Notice

If you grossly over inflate your shipping charges, your days are numbered.Next month,eBay will be charging the FVF,(final value fee),on the ENTIRE payment YOU charge the buyer including shipping. So if you sell a part for $200 and it costs $200 to ship it,ebay will double your sellers FVF fee from what it used to be.
They say they are doing this to keep sellers more honest with shipping/handling charges.

There are stores selling items that are worth $50 and they sell it for $.01 but charge $50 shipping.

they have been allowing buyers to report sellers with grossly high shipping and handling fees for several years now. Part of the seller's "dashboard" score is exactly that.

One of the things I don't like is they (ebay) says the sellers have to keep reasonable shipping fees yet the seller gets docked 3% for the shipping amount when the buyer uses PayPal (~ 95% of the buyers). How can you keep the shipping "reasonable" when they are skimming 3%?

And to top that, for 2011 PayPal will begin reporting (1099) payments received into accounts of those users who receive more than $20,000 and more than 200 payments.

Apparently the IRS accepted public comments and has now made its final rule - it will stick to requiring that the "gross amount" be reported. The proposed regulations defined gross amount as the total dollar amount of aggregate reportable payment transactions for each participating payee without regard to any adjustments for credits, cash equivalents, discount amounts, fees, refunded amounts, or any other amounts.

The final rule states, "Several commenters suggested defining "gross amount" as net sales, taking into account credit transactions, chargebacks and other adjustments, on the ground that gross amount is not a true indicator of revenue." Nevertheless, the IRS will require payment services to report the gross amount.

Yeah, double jeopardy ...

This is bs, there automatic shipping calculator is inacurate. The amount is never the same at the post office. And if you buy at an online retailer, they charge shipping and handling. As a non-business seller, i don't always have the right size box or supplies. My time has a price. Another case of ebay bending the sell over with a rubber glove. If the shipping costs are upfront with the buyer, they don't have to buy if they don't like the shipping charges.

No they aren't doing this to keep seller from overcharging, they are doing this to make more money.

99.99% Of ebay sellers are good people just trying to make a buck...the vast majority of them [us] sell items at profit margins no store could ever match [15% or less] Ebay whacks you pretty close to 10% on everything and them Pay Pay [ebay's pay pal] whacks you again.

Did you also know that ebay will no longer let you post in the ad, that you will accept Money Orders? Was that protect against M.O. fraud or basically just insure you have to pay thru pay pal for a fee [to the seller]

In the last week i purchased a brand new set [in the box] of Toyota Carpets for $5 dollars...that's right FIVE dollars...How much money did that porr SOB make?

This morning I bought a TPMS re-set tool for HALF of what my parts store wanted [for the same p/n.]

.how much could the guy have possibly made? And then ebay/paypal takes nearly 15%...Geez they make more profit that the seller!
I've stopped selling most stuff on ebay because there isn't enough left for me.

That's exactly my point. A seller who sells items cheap but states up front a high shipping cost, makes out because they only pay eBay for the sale of the item and not the shipping.

But let me tell you something...when a seller posts something for a RIDICULOUS low price..like a penny or $9.99 and makes it up in shipping, his true motive is to be found first [or at least near the top] when the bidder searches 'lowest price first'

[That's why ebay gives you the option of searching lowest price AND shipping first]

Just my view...

That makes sense.

Exactly!

Thats why I have been boycotting Classic Industries for years now. You'd order a postage stamp sized, $100 emblem and they would charge you $25 shipping because their non-negotiable rule is a price-based shipping charge.

A deal should be judged on TOTAL price...if it works for you buy it...I couldn't give a hoot on how the seller came to that figure. And NOBODY should be asked to sell something for less than they want for it.
