I friend of mine has what according to the casting #´s are Max Wedge heads. The # is 2406518-7. I don´t have any pics yet but will take some at the end of the week.
The thing is that he swears they came off a 383 (year unknown). Would this be possible, technically ? And if so, is it a known fact that 2406518 heads were used on 383´s from the factory or would this have been a later swap ?

I'm not real up on the Mopar stuff but I think if those heads came off a 383 they were not original to it. According to my research the 518 head was the "new for '64 Max Wedge head", this head had 6 valve cover bolts, previously they only had 4 valve cover bolt holes. I think your freind has some pretty rare heads there.

If they're Max Wedge heads, they won't have exhaust heat crossovers.

If so, then he has given me the wrong numbers. But he said they had huge valves and he´s a numbers guy, so he shouldn´t be wrong. I´ll know fore sure when I see them.
