Will you be using silicon or aluminum killed steel or just normal steel for the body?

Wow, thanks Charley! That’s quite a compliment......Thank you!

Freddie, just regular steel. Right now the car is covered in fairing compound (boat stuff) which is a lot lighter, and cheaper, than body filler for the final sculpting. I can load the low areas up!

Cheers
Dave

Round one of blocking is complete, and another coating of fairing compound is hardening as we speak. This needs to set a day before I can sand it down, which will be no problem since I'm headed up for my annual recurrent training for three days.

Meanwhile, I got some steel to start fabricating up the windshield frame. Next week I'll be buying steel to start forming panels and hope to have the body buck at the final stages. Also, going to look at a couple R107s for my donor chassis.

Cheers
Dave

The sculpting is complete, and since I'm headed down the metal body fabricating road, no need to paint it. A mix of various leftover DP colors created this battleship gray which doesn't look too bad!

Time to get some metal and metal tools to start shaping!

Cheers
Dave

Super Dave Michelangelo!

Stunning. Well Done!

What color will she be? Silver?

Dan

Thanks, guys!

Dan, my plan is Dolomitengrau or Steingrau/Graphit Metallic (basically, a dark charcoal metallic) with a red interior. Kinda like this color combo.

I’ll probably have to put the major work on hold until the airlines figure out what size they’re going to be due to this cough, but meanwhile, I’ll start on the grille, side vents, and other small items I can fabricate.

Cheers
Dave

Looks great Dave!! Hey, have you ever watched Seinfelds Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee? I watched an episode recently where he's driving a 507. He's driving around with Christoph Waltz. Very fun episode.
