This is a real deal 1969 Camaro Z/28 engine block. The casting number is 3956618 and the casting date is B 17 9 which decodes as February 17th, 1969. The pad is stamped V0219DZ 19L525622. The V0219DZ shows this block was originally assembled in Flint, Michigan on February 19th, 1969 as a 302/290HP engine specifically for the 1969 Z/28 Camaro. The 19L525622 is the partial VIN of the car this block was originally installed in. This is a real deal DZ 302 block!
This block was recently found in a 1968 Chevy longbed pickup and was freshly built as a 350 engine. I imagine the block was on the shelf at a machine shop and they saw it simply as a 4 bolt Small Block core. The owner had different plans for an engine anyway so after he figured out that the block was special, the engine was pulled out of the truck and he sold the block to me. This is a real deal DZ 302 block. This block is in very good condition as shown. The bores are 0.060 over and look great with excellent cross hatching and no ridge at the tops of the cylinders. There are no sleeves. A few of the head bolt holes have helicoils in them and one needs to be redone. The block has never been surfaced and the original pad stampings as awesome. After I took pictures of the pad, I primered it to keep it from rusting which can be seen in the pictures. This is an awesome original DZ302 block. I also have a 1178 302 crankshaft, 3927186 heads, Z/28 oil pan, balancer, and timing cover that I plan to list soon. $2200 |
