Has anyone ever seen March '69 dated YH wheels? It seems in many years of parts I have never seen or heard of a March '69 YH wheel. Maybe I'm wrong but Ebay item # 2487848412 has the most "unique" K 1 9, date and YH stamps I have ever seen. Doesn't look anything like any of my original YH wheels. Currently over $1,000 for 4! Buy it now for $ 2250.00! 200 more in the collection?! Original or not?
XT wheels are now available new. Have the YH wheels started also? Mark |

I don't see a problem with them other than the fact that the day of the month is stamped deeper than my May YH wheels. My car should have March YH wheels since it's an April JL8 car so the definitely made the wheels that early. What do you think looks wrong with the stampings?

Jeff,
If you had the original wheels for your car you would see what I mean about the characters. A number of people who have had many YH wheels just have never seen any dated in March '69. Maybe they ran a few or none? Enclosed are some shots of YH wheel stampings. Do you see any differences? Mark |

I can see where the stampings on his March YH wheels jump all over the place and most of the ones you picture seem to line up with the K 1 9 at least. Some have dashes others don't. Do you think there was a strike or something in March that resulted in no wheels being produced? I know that the Mar-Apr time frame was big for Z28 production so I would think they might have run out if they were relying on stored up reserves from Dec-Feb. Interesting.

I agree with Jeff... if you look at the K19 stamping on your wheels, and look at the date stamps, they appear to be in-line or at least parallel to the K-19 stamp, on all the wheels you posted pics of, on the ebay ones, it appears every stamp was done randomly and no 2 numerals seem directly in line with the next... There ARE definite variations to the stampings on your wheels too though, including the dashes between the K 19 on some and not on others, the depth of the stamps, etc... so I wouldn't necesarrily say the ebay ones are suspicious based solely on the stampings, but if you have any info saying there were no YHs made during this time frame, that may make me wonder... did you e mail the seller and ask any questions?

There certainly are variations in stampings on the production YH wheels but there are also a few consistant characteristics. The K-1-9 appears to be stamped in a gang holder, the edge can be seen on the 8 6 stamping. The dates and application (YH) seem to have been stamped as individual characters with varying depths. The only wheels without the dash between the K-1-9 I have seen are the august '69 dated wheels. Who knows why they used a different gang holder set? Later '69 dated wheels also exhibit the dashes between characters. Other than the fact that the E-Bay wheels don't exhibit the gang holder stamp characteristics, have different fonts on the Y and H characters than other original YH wheels, no dashes between K-1-9 characters, and have (rare?) March '69 dates; they seem quite like regular production YH wheels! A lot of money for some "unique" YH wheels!
