Nothing too new to report..still cleaning and stripping..took the body off and put it on the dolly...gretting cleaner and cleaner!

had both doors off..they have been stripped and sanded in the jamb area..and the hinges have been re-bushed..an amazing car for sure!

How far along is the restoration now?

Is this the same owner as the YNOZL1 in the pictures of 2010 MCACN? (Says you set up that display of 69's WOW)

If so does that mean there is a guy with two 69 Chevelles with ZL1's? I think the only aluminum engine I own is a &quot;weed wacker&quot;.

If you have too many 1969 Chevelles/Beaumonts, I can store one at no charge, but I will need the keys to start it occasionally. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/Can-I-Have-It.gif

I had a triple green 69 Beaumont years ago, 307 3spd auto, it never shifted into third gear and smelled like urine, only on hot days. Still miss that car (Not so much) a ZL1 and an M22 would have made up for the funcky smell.

The Can-Am event is during my busy shut down time at work so I may just zip down and back in the same day. (Only 2 hours from here) I will look for you.

This car is identical to one that an old school teacher had here in Saint John NB. Same color , engine etc etc. The mate to it. A guy managed to buy it and drove it once in a while, then sold it. I've had 50/50 luck with SMS. I got some NOS material dated exactly to when my Gramma's 75 Firebird's interior was manufactured. It was a dead-on color match of the saddle material but it was backed with some hard canvas-like material and not stretchable. My upholsterer ended up only being able to use it to make the piping that goes between the pieces. We ended up reusing the original panel that had abrasions on it. Luckily, it was the piping that had to be repaired in the first place, as it was shredded by the shoulder harness dragging across it.

So I guess the moral of the story is that you might get NOS material that matches the color but not the original application - like me getting piping vinyl instead of upholstery vinyl.
