Word up here in Canada is some guy named Carl single-handedly scrapped the bulk of original MK1V Canadian Poncho 4-Doors and Longroofs back in the day, transplanting their MK1V internal organs into other cars that had a better chance to live!. So, it might be worth my while to try and raise the VIN on the pad. Maybe the car still exists. </div></div> Naaahh as too few enthusiasts have caught on to the rarity of factory Mk1V Canadian Pontiacs anyway.. Are the heads the ones that came w/ the block?. Look carefully at all you have including casting #'s and if an L72 it may be worth thinking harder about it all then?. ~ Pete </div></div> Where was/is this Carl? The Camaro was in the Belleville area when the transplant was performed. The block and starter are the only items not original on the car. The heads, waterpump and even the alternator are the original December '68, date coded, L78 items. I'm pretty sure that the block is a 3866942 casting, dated February '66. It does have HI PERF cast into it and is drilled above the filter for the oil lines. I will verify the casting number and date when I get a chance.

Re: New Camshaft in '66 427 Block
----I believe that during the 942s casting cycle, if a shortage of two bolt, low horse 427 blocks developed the factory would simply use what was on hand that would work with no other changes. As far as I know there were no other differences than the ones mentioned above between two and four bolt main blocks.....Bill S
