I just wanted to post some pic's of some parts that used to be popular back in the days.. The Air cleaner is an Old Cal Custom piece. I lucked out a few years back and picked up this Q-jet intake from a Boat! the casting # 3927184 is a 1969 4MV Service replacment for 350 SBC-255/300/350 HP. The Weiand is an old school X-terminator single plane and The Edelbrock is the Older Style Performer, They say that the cross section was changed on the Performer's sometime in the Early 1990's? All I know is that they were Popular! It seems like every one had them on smallblocks back in the day's! Also in the pic are some Very old Header's-they have the once poular 4 bolt collector's and independent flanges so they dont Leak, Like the stuff they sell now a days. And who can forget Ram Horn's? They used to be A Hot item for those who wanted good power and that stock look.
P:S-This Clear fuel line was on my nova, I looked everywhere for something close to this and found Nothing! Anyone know where to get this stuff? This line turned brownish from age!

I was thinking of modifying my Hooker headers to get this look up top. My exhaust guy tells me everytime I take a car to him with headers that I should cut each tube apart from that flat stock to help with leaks... I like the four bolt collectors too.

Dont mind the mess http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I got this Tranny from a Guy NickNamed "Muncie Dave". He gave me a really good price and its like Brand new inside and out, He even threw in a Complete Hurst Comp+ Shifter with all linkages And a Very Heavy Chrome shift Ball, I never seem anything like it, he told me that back in the Day's Hurst sold Balanced Shifter Balls To reduce the buzzing that some shifter's do?? By the way this is a Early M-20 wide ratio Muncie with the small pin.

Here is a another 3-speed, This one is a Saginaw with 2.85 1st gear. It was Very Dirty on the outside, But when i opened it up, It looks Almost New! These tranny's are Very Strong. All the Roundy-Round Guy's Run em. For some reason they arent popular ? My Tranny guy says that they are Stronger than "RockCrusher's". I dont know? I also have a M22 - in my Trans am and its Loud !! It's Funny , But People who Dont know that M22's are Suppose to Make Noise, Think That something is wrong with The Tranny.

I have a Jones, NOS I believe, as it looks like it has never had a cable attached to it. 9000 RPMs. It has a chrome cup and a 90 degree mounting bracket. The other one is a SW, 10,000 RPM. That one has a cable and a mounting bracket. Just hanging on the wall in the back room.

I remember those Thrush mufflers! I worked at an Auto Parts store when I was sixteen and I can remember so vividly taping those Thrush boxes back up EVERYDAY because customers loved to open them up just to look at the mufflers. One day I encounter an old man that actually has the muffler up to his mouth blowing into it and saying "So these are the mufflers that wake me up in the middle of the night that those damn kids are putting on their cars!" To which my co-worker buddy replies: "Yes sir, we like those mufflers."

It's been SO long since these muffler's were in Stores for sale , I always liked how they Looked ...If They were to make these Round mufflers with the same color's and Logo , They would sell like HOTCAKES !! They did revive "hushthrush", But its just a "dynomax-superturbo" in disguise - They need to do a remake on these old ones -Im SICK of flowmasters!!! they are SO played out .. Every one has em and all cars sound the same....

I have old Thrush turbos, the longer ones that I call "Hemi" turbos, on my '55 and they still sound great. Flowmasters just don't do it for me.

I installed a set of Hollywood Deeptones on my 68 Nova. I really like the sound. The ads for them appeared in Hot Rod Magazines in the early 80's from what I have seen. I don't know if they were around in the 70's. I would imagine they are probably about the same thing as the old thrush mufflers. They came in tubes and ovals.

I actually really like the sound of Flowmasters. I love hearing that DEEP sound that a big cubic inch motor thumping through a set of larger diameter Flowmasters makes. Anyway, back to these glasspacks......I've never ran them, but I was always told to avoid the ones that have the internal louvers protruding into the exhaust stream. They flow terrible. When I think back to the early Eighties, there was a muffler called the Sonic Turbo that was very popular and that's what I always used. I'm sure many people here remember them.
This glasspack talk is treading lightly on poser sound. I always viewed glasspacks as a muffler for people who wanted the hp sound with a stock motor.
I agree with Mark- I like the sound of Flowmasters. When I first heard them on a 5.0 Mustang I thouhg it was the best muffler I've ever heard. It's not true ot the sound of these muscle car era engines, but they made their mark in the 80's have have not slowed up much in popular culture. Not many other mufflers can say that.

The Older round Thrush ARE not Glasspacks ... Neither are the Hush Thrush mufflers .. the Hollywood Deep Tones ARE a Glasspack Design ... But they are not the "Cheapies "-The Ad said-- Bringing back the brap, brap, brap & they SURE did make noise , But they sounded GOOD !! I have had "Flowmasters" & They sound like EVERY other Car on the road 2day .. I used to be a 5.0 Ford Fanatic but I went Oldschool .... They didnt have Flowmasters back in the days... The mufflers you were told to AVOID are the Cheaply made glasspacks that store's have in Bins - They DO Suck.. But These Thrush Are Nice Flowing units ,they Are not even made anymore , but they make a "Day2" project period correct....

Furry T-handle. Very C http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gifL!!!
I remember complaining about a cold T-handle to my pop. He said his crew would just throw a glove over the T-handle in the winter.
The tan fuzzy handle sure looks nice. I know I didn't wash my hands before getting into my Malibu, can't imagine what I could make that thing look like after a year of driving.

I have a few used pairs of BBC M/Ts (one 427 pair), plus two pair of Cal Custom BBCs that could use a good polish. My major weakness is wheels, especially 1960s aluminum Torq Thrusts. These 15x6 "Sport Wheels" came from Scuncio and will go on my Camaro, probably with a set of F70 pinstripe whitewalls.

I like old performance ignition boxes. I've had good luck with vintage MSD ones like this being reliable.
http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/SST/SST802.jpg
I also like the finned Motion Phase III box for looks. Don't know how well they perform.
Joel named his company after the Motion Ignition product he felt raised the performance tuning ceiling in his early days. I would love to see what one of those Motion barnd ignition boxes looked like.
