View Full Version : LU block
I recently came across an LU block out of a 69 Camaro. I know LU is for a 427 (435 horse) aluminum head engine with HD clutch for a Corvette. Would this be an L-88 block? Colvin's book just says "L-71 Engine Alum Heads".
Thanks for any help.

Lynn, The L-88 used the same block as the other big blocks. It obviously had to be machined for 4 bolts as well as the oil cooler But a 512 is a 512. So yes this could be used as an L-88 block but as stamped it went into a L-89 aluminum head tripower Corvette.
Hope this helps, Rich

Lynn,
If you are asking if it was originally a L88 engine the answer is no. It was a L71 427/435HP tripower engine with aluminum heads. Still no slouch.
