I bought these filters at a swap meet and the filter number is 6424613 and A212CX.
There are 2 different style boxes. The one AC box has on it Pontiac V-8 400 428 4BBL Hi Perf Engine 1967. The other 2 just have the numbers on them.
When I remove from the box The filters on the top have A212CW embossed into the filter but almost like a branded X after the CW. These 3 have a Diagonal square screen with a almost soldered mesh and a finer mesh (like a screen door)behind the diagonal one.
What is the proper style of mesh used in the 427 vette engines ect... I have found lots of info but all different info on what is correct. Thanks
Hi George
AC designed those double mesh filters for Trucks & HDuty Industrial applications for Chevrolet/GMC,that were mainly around those conditions.

A212CW single square mesh is what the Vettes used,in a Diagonal position.
The 65 thru 69 vette air filters used the AC 212CW filter. It was square mesh rotated 45 degrees with a smooth woven junction. The part # is embossed on the air filter.

Hi Rick, I have some pictures of the boxes and filters, The one box is a older GM performance Box that comes with a decal that looks the same as the air cleaner box. The AC box has 1967 400 428 4 Barrel Hi Performance Engine 1967 on it in the gm writing? There is a A212CW on the filter. How can i post the pics. Thanks

pictures of the filters, the a212cx is a a212cw, looks like they just took a heated X and burnt it on. The box looks like it is dated 1967 and on the box it also has 400 428 hi perf engines 1967, see all pics ??

From my old parts days, I recall some older A212 filters came with chrome wire mesh on the outside. Sorry I don't have a catalogue to confirm it.

I recognize these as the ones you sold about 6 months ago, last fall or so, original equipment on one year GTO, others it was the perf line filter, added screen on the outside and the big over molded X.

I have a clock and parts cabinet. It's very hard to find any info on AC performance parts from the 60s and 70s.

In the AC performance parts book, did they sell an air cleaner base for this a212cX filter?
