Power Tour 2012

Here we go......Leaving tomorrow morning at 7:30......We will be travelling with my son Chris (66 Chevelle w built 406), Dave (I'm Rare.... Flamed Pick-up), and Gary (Gwawa 65 Biscayne 454) and driving to Warren, Mi to register....Looking forward to meeting up with old friends and the new ones that will be met along the way.....Great Times with no prior plans.....Just go with the flow....As I think about all the experiences encountered over the last 7 Power Tour years.......It's one of those things that over time just get's more "Important" to do........Meeting and mingling with "True" car guys........Last year at this time, we were in Cocoa Beach for the start, and between me, Craig, Dave, and Charley.....we basically took 1/2 the engine apart in my son Chris's car in the Hotel parking lot chasing a vacuum leak.....LOL......Drove over to the GM repair guy's on Saturday morning and they found the problem within one minute.........LOL.....You can't make this stuff up..........We can laugh about it now, but it was pretty stressful at the time.....
Even when the Nu Yawk car showed up and I was ready to slit my wrist's.........Chris said "Don't worry about it.....just fix it and we will be laughing about the day it showed up while having dinner on the Tour this year......and we will.......
The Power Tour is not about the Destination..........It's about the "Journey".........Last year we met Chad Maskrey (He had the DuraMax Twin Turbo Diesel Nova Station Wagon)......he's traveling with us this year along with Charley, Mark Webster, Mark Steilow...........WoW!!!!!! ...........Can't wait till tomorrow.........Anyhow.....Stay tuned for daily pic's and updates....

This Corvair van was at my neighbors for a week and a half for inside paint and outside bodywork and a &quot;fast and dirty&quot; paint job.It has a 540BBC with two shaft driven superchargers on the back of the motor.I took a few fingerprints off with some sandpaper a few nights helping out.I couldn't get a picture of the other side as to many people were around it.

The last two are of our car sitting at the Pioneer trailer for display of Musclecar systems.A guy I know asked me if I wanted a system put in our car and I said &quot;how much?&quot; He said,free you just have to have it there for display.I think he said he had 1 for sure and possibly another gonna have a system installed.So score for us and win for the company.Oh by the way the system just about blows the windows out if you want it to.

Thats all that I have.We did say hi to Charlie,Ken and Paulette.If you haven't witnessed the Nu-yark survivor find somewhere to go see it as pictures dont do it justice.

No pictures of the Pioneer mobile on the trailer for the ride home.We left the venue at about 6:30 and got about 3 miles down the road going 55mph and all of a sudden the tach went to &quot;0&quot;.I thought maybe the tach feed came apart so I pushed on the gas and no acceleration happened.Needless to say this is the second ignition module in less then 400mi.Hopefully we will get to the bottom of this as I have a email in to MSD.
All in all a great day.

We left Muskegon in the rear view mirror and drove to Lane Automotive for a quick stop......beatuiful weather......drove down to Champaign and the clouds came in along with an afternoon rain shower.....so ....we didn't stay at the park too long.....Went to the Hotel and about an hour later the Sun came out and turned into a beautiful night........here are some pic's

Had a leisurely drive today to Stillwater down old Rt #66.....perfect day......But, I didn't have too much time for pictures today as it seemed that everyone that came by the car after we parked had followed the build on one of the sites it was on.....Pretty Cool....It was also shot to be featured in some future Dakota Digital advertisements........So....it was a day of &quot;Yapping&quot;........finished off with Dinner with Good friends..........anyhow....Here are some driving pic's and a couple from the show....

I was heading to work down I35 from Norman,OK, this morning around 9:30 am and spot a group of power-tourers ahead of me. I got up to between 80-90mph and still couldn't catch up with them! Could see a grey/silver 70 Chevelle, a black 57, what looked to be a red 55 Chevy, a new white Camaro, and a couple of newer Vettes. Never did catch up with those, but I did catch up with a little yellow AMC (or something - LOL) and as I passed recognized it was Bob and Vickie Ashton! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/laugh.gif I slowed back down until I was next to them and honked and waved thinking the SYC license plate frame on the back of my car might tip them off... not sure if they recognized who I was or not but Vickie was waving back like crazy and it looked like she was having the time of her life! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/laugh.gif I guess the rest stop is in Pauls Valley today, just 11 miles from where I am in Maysville, but I can't get away from work long enough to get over there. Bummer. Looks like you guys are having a great time. Keep the pics coming Ken... it helps the rest of us feel a little closer!

No module failure,just a gear failure.Getting kinda gun shy of driving the car now not knowing if it is gonna run or not.Next is a hardened gear so we don't have to wonder if the new distributor has one or not.On a better note the new one does have a rev limiter built in and it DOES work. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif
Shift light at 6000 rev limiter at 6500.Gotta be fast to pull a gear before the limiter comes on. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/3gears.gif
