I thought we had a wheels and tires thread started? I could not find so I started a new one, always room for day 2 wheels and tires. Here is a picture of the wheels and tires that where going on my 66 mustang (ops the cheaters are too tall). I think I am now going to put these on my 65 GTO. I love they way the old tires look! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/03/full-10756-10045-image.jpg

Growing up I couldn't stand the cragars now after seeing the one owner orange l78 chevelle on TC I absolutely love them. Those would look great on my car.

That's a problem running radicals on the front and Bias ply on the back.

For a time in the early 1990's I ran radials on the front- 225-70-15 up front and a pair of 265-60-15 bias belted tires out back. I had ladder bars on it too. I didn't really notice anything terribly difficult with driving the car. Admittedly, those rear tires were always doing smoke shows. I recall a few times setting the line lock in traffic at a red light and there was so much smoke that nobody could see the light change color, and I wasn't even the lead car in line <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/shocked.gif

When we had the big snow storm here a few weeks back, I was notified that there was a leak in the roof of my storage unit. When I got down there, luckily somehow nothing was ruined, although the units on either side of mine had a lot of damage. I changed to a new unit and in the process took some pictures of part of my tire stash. Enjoy...

The wrapped up tires and the first loose one on top are Firestone Wide Oval RWL F70-14 1969-only for my red COPO that came with them originally

Hey Jeff would you be interested in selling your racemasters? I am restoring my old Willys and need an original pair. Thanks for your time.

Jeff

Apply Team 303 protectorant to the tires to keep them from dry rotting. 303 is on the only protectorant w/o oils and silicone which damage rubber like STP or Armorall and others..

I have been applying 303 to my TC45A farm tractor I bought new in 2006 and zero dry rot and nearly everyone else with tractor tires that old have serious cracking issues.

Just mounted up a set of Pro Tracs on some old Centerline's I recently bought from another sYc member and plan on mounting these on my 68 Camaro tonight. If anyone has a set of front & rear drag tires they'd like to sell for a special Day II car I am just finishing up, please holler. I'd love to find a set of vintage front runners and a killer pair of 10" rear slicks for my 69 Z. (hint hint Jeff) :)

Here's the set for the driver that I put together earlier today.

Which 303 protectant should one get, Whitetop? There are a couple of different ones I have found, looking online. I assume the one that says "automotive" in a black bottle?

Coincidentally, I just had my tires mounted for my up coming project today. Can you say, Day II? Uh huh!

I assume these are dates (6-71 &72) on the 8in. Rockets? And an unusual label found on the rear wheels

That wheel / tire combo immediately takes me back to the early 1980s. Perfect for that time period!
