I got my email that orders 175,178,180,182 and 185 were shipped out on Thursday May 8th.

Order 185 arrived here in Calgary on Monday May 12th, but the other orders seem to have taken a longer route? I can't wait to check the mailbox this afternoon.

Question for the non Corvette Document.
I have not seen a picture of a Chevelle-Camaro or Nova Document and I was wondering if it is exactly the same as these 2 Corvette Documents were it has &quot; For the restoration and preservation of Corvettes&quot; in the top left corner.
Did NCRS change that saying to something different for Chevelle, Camaro,Nova etc... or is it exactly the same as the Corvette ones in the photos?

The corporate letterhead for NCRS is used for this service, the document looks the same as those you have attached.

Things are great! How are you doing? Lunch there sounds good.

My COPO Chevelle is from Winders Chevrolet. I had an old registration placing the car in Columbus Ohio back in 1985, so its good to know the car was in the same area for more than 15 years. Hopefully someone will recall a white car with black vinyl top and red bench seat interior in the area??

Any other cars known to come from Winders? Anyone have photos of dealer embles, etc?

The 1970 RS Camaro was delivered to Herrin-Gear Chevrolet Jackson, MS. I will be looking for a Herrin-Gear Chevrolet dealer emblem or plate frame...

Wow got the shipping report for the Z/28 yesterday... I have a copy of the original Title listing WA dealer No. 204 as the Dealer No. which comes up as Alan Green Chevrolet in Seattle WA but the Dealers report of sale on the title is Bill Hazelett Chevrolet in Kent WA- figured Dealer trade right? Well the NCRS Doc. shows delivery to Capital Chevrolet in Olympia, WA- double dealer trade? Maybe the deal didn't work out at Alan Green...wow this is Awesome- anyone ever heard of Ed McCarroll? He bought Capital Chev in 1965.

Great memory Chuck, I think being the original owner is as good as the build sheet. It would be nice to be able get that info though for the Chevy's.
My letter read 4/15/68 build date. I looked it up and it was on a monday, I had to laugh. Tax day too. I noticed my trim tag reads 2nd week of April, the car was built on the 1st day of the 3rd week so pretty tight from tag to assembly.

Just got my paperwork yesterday for my 1969 L78 Nova.

Car is an 06A build date and was GM official production date is 6/10/69. Original delivery dealer was Dealer Code 447 in Zone 44 which lists name and location of dealer as:

Les Stanford Chevrolet
Dearborn, MI

We knew the car came out of Michigan and was drag raced early in its life at Milan Dragway. Does anyone remember either my Dover White '69 Nova or Les Stanford Chevrolet?

Thanks,

Paul

Just Googled and found that Les Stanford Chevrolet is still going strong as a Chevy &amp; Cadillac dealer. I emailed them through their website requesting whether they had any original paperwork in their archives that they could provide to me.

Any other suggestions on how to best find documentation on my Nova?

I have two buildsheets already, but I would love to have some original dealer paperwork such as sales order form, etc.

I guess I am encouraged that the dealer is still around.

Regarding Les Stanford Chevrolet. I picked this 1969 Nova up a few years ago from this site. It was sold from Les Stanford Chevrolet and I just sent out for the NCRS documents to confirm it. It has been a race car since the 70s and still looks the exact same today. I put in a link below to what it looked like back in the day. I'm not sure what drag strip it was.

Just got my three in the mail yesterday. I knew where my 67 and 69 came from, no surprise there. My 70Z project came with a CE block and a replacement POP from Theigs-Essler motors. The NCRS paperwork shows Arnold Chevrolet in Watkins Minnesota. A google search shows it is still in business today! What are the odds that they have any old docs? Does anyone here have any info on Arnold Chevrolet? Thanks Roy for giving us some detective work to do!

Great thanks to the NCRS for providing this service.
One of the 3 VIN's for a black `69 SS396 post sedan came back as being sold new at McCormick Motors in Nappanee, IN.
I called the dealer and actually talked with the salesman/owner who ordered the car originally in `69, and has been there for 53 years. He thought he remembered who bought the car as it was his nephew.
He gave me the nephew's number, who called me back and remembered the car being sold new to an acquaintance/friend out of Warsaw, IN. He gave me the name, but also said the guy was killed in Viet Nam in early `70.
The owner of the dealership, Bernie Beer, says he will ask around to see if anyone he knows may know what happened with the car after that. Great guy!
When the car is done, I plan on taking it to McCormick Motors to show it to Bernie. He says he'd love to see it as it's fun for him to relive the performance years too.

The report on my 67 Z28 came like this-

The GM official Production Date was 4/6/1967

The original delivery Dealer was code 0 in zone 40

The name and location of the dealer was:

Chevrolet Zone Office
Charleston, WV

Car is a cowl plenum intake with no non-Z28 options.

Any ideas why the zone office would order this car?

Thanks for responding Roy also good news about the cars shipped to Canada!
It may be a good idea to include a note &amp; GM Canada Vintage services contact info w/ any NCRS reports supplied for cars like this also Cdn. built cars shipped new to the States as not everyone is aware that VINs crossing the Canada/US border in either direction when new had their RPO info etc recorded thus available today for these cars from Canada Vintage services.
Gotta say the recent NCRS service is simply THE best thing that's happened to this hobby in recent years!

The document has a notory type stamp on a gold leaf type surface embodded on it. I would malso think that the NCRS will keep a record of the letters they sent out, since it would be fairly easy for them to do.

I keep hearing this but do not see why. The way I read the press release the document will not contain build information, just shipping info, such as selling dealer. I doubt it will &quot;expose&quot; a hand full of cars, as except for the few so called &quot;supercars dealers&quot;, why would anyone lie about the selling dealer?

I do think it is a positive though, as many car enthusiasts are curious where their cars were sold new, and for the supercars, not all dealer records are available, which left the NICB as the only source for such information, which few folks can access. IMO, as this service moves forward, we will see the number of documented supercars increase.

Then the only debate will be how was it equipped/modified. </div></div>

In my case it has helped. I have a car that has been a race car all it's life. I traced it's ownership history back to 1976 when a guy when a guy from western Maryland supposedly picked up the car in Connecticut. The yellow paint on a New England 70 Camaro pro stocker had me thinking it was maybe the Peavy speed shop car, then another source said the guy picked up the car at SRD race cars in 76. As it turned out,my car was sold new at Hallowell Chevrolet in Easton Maryland which is near Delaware. Talk about something from left field. Now I can look for racers in that area, and it sure as heck is more consistent with the car being worked on at SRD back in 1976. I also have another supercar that I want to get the dealership info on before I pay out money to the supercar shop owner to document it. Unfortunatly the car is a 1973,which they don't have the records for.

got mine for the COPO yesterday..confirms my buildsheets, dealer 49, zone 12, Joe Bookman chevy Buffalo NY. Interesting though, the NCRS had no dealer name available? I knew what 49-12 was ahead of time...car was built 7-11-69.

I did find a post from another site from years ago that noted that he bought his 69 Z/28 new from Guardian. Thanks Steve. The NCRS website lists Sausman as 49 - 496. I always thought that this car was from Sunderland, which is what Sausman became in / around 1969. While the NCRS site does not have Sunderland, I know that in 1978 they were 49 - 580 (per a build sheet I found online last night for a '78 Anniv Vette).

So, now I don't know where the car was from, and what I thought was a Sunderland sold car - now appears not... Feel like I just took a big step backwards. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/eek.gif

Pony Express finally arrived in Canada. Received my document for order #236. Mine is shown as Zone 8, dealer 199.

Receiving dealer was Dunlap Chevrolet of Macon, Georgia. This confirms what my research had obtained many years ago. Actual assembly date was March 14, 1969 (Friday) which coincides with my trim tag build date of 03B.

Dunlap Chevrolet was taken over by Youmans Chevrolet in the early 1980’s. In 2005 I talked to one of the original Dunlap family members. He was very gracious in sending me some pictures, dealer stickers and an old license plate. Way back “in the day” they were actually an auto manufacturing company under the name of Dunlap-Huckabee. One of the pictures below is the assembly plant.

This document is a nice piece to have. Thanks Roy.

The Chevy II was ordered by Star Chevrolet Co Inc, East Orange, NJ. Dealer code 301 in zone 35.
The Nova was ordered by Havre Motor Corp, Ravenna, OH. Dealer code 245 in zone 28.
It was expected that the ordering dealers were from New Jersey and Ohio.

We are working on a re retrieval of VIN'S for all Nova's and the 69 Camaro's. I do not know that it will yield anything new but we are reprocessing them.

Just so everyone knows, we have flagged every order we could not complete and will recheck them all automatically - you are welcome to ask me to recehceck your vin's individually but you do not need to, it will only slow the recheck process down. If new information is found letters will automatically be generated and mailed to those that received partial information, those that received refunds will be notified they need to reoroder if we find anything.

Got my info today and my car was sold thru Brown and Holter Motor Co in Cheney WA, however a check of the dealer code 62 in zone 42 shows Ashmore Chevrolet in Rockford WA. Interestingly I bought it out of WA but the guy before me got it from Michigan. Did a quick check and it looks like neither dealer is around. Would anyone know anything of the dealers? I'm going to put something in the wanted classifieds too and see if I can pick up any licence plate frames, dealer emblems or memorabilia. Probably a long shot but who knows?

Great question also interesting MSO result.
Are the NCRS dealer results gleaned from info indicating who GM billed for the car?

Similar thought but different, should reports come back Yenko Canonsburg for all genuine original Yenko Camaros and Deuces regardless of which Yenko Network dealer delivered them new to the customer?
If so, although Jack Douglass ordered/Yenko striped 9561 cars would be an exception, are there any legit others?

Again is the info being gleaned for the reports not specifically who was billed for the car thus MSO sent to?
As for the Stingers sent to Dana, you'd expect they'd come back Dana as they probably ordered it w/ Don's Copo code also were billed for it so again got the MSO?

My understanding is that the dealer codes could change from year to year
or a dealer could move and it would change the dealer code. I think that
is why it is important to list your GM official production date when entering
info to the NCRS dealer code research.

Dana, I owned a RS/SS L78 that came from Harbor Chevrolet. I contacted them in 1999 and spoke with the Business Manager Sally Huff who had been there since the early 60's (She retired shortly after). I received my report Monday, good news/bad news. Found out the car was built on 4/23/69 (a Wednesday):-). It was sold at DeLong in San Rafael CA. Bad news is they are out of business and I live 30 minutes from there. I've had the car since
1986, had I known there were the selling dealer I may have had some luck with paperwork. Guy I bought it from thought the original owner from from SF, so those were the dealers I tried. Car has spent it's entire existence in the SF area. Born in LA, then sent north. At least I know what license plate frame to get.

Some distribution codes likebthis were used to process orders for military personnel stationed overseas without cars ever actually leaving mainland US, was that 'Vette we looked at here a year or three ago Zone 79 too?
Again it seems the NCRS reports are being gleaned from info recorded of who was billed for the cars also the MSO's sent to so the shipping info may sometimes differ?
Back to these Zone 79 cars, it wouldn't be surprising to find they were ordered by military personnel stationed overseas so feel proud also good luck if you dig into this possibility also finding whoever may have ordered them!

Is this the same SCHMIDT in Ohio? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/06/full-444-12662-copy_of_dealership_emblems_014

Yep.The same Schmidt... The Bob Schmidt emblem from Maumee Ohio is one the last chrome bolt on ones used. Originally Bob's father ran Carl Schmidt Chevrolet in Perrysburg ,Ohio from the 40's until his death in the mid 60's. Bob took over the dealership then and didn't change to his own name until the early 70's. The dealership then moved to Maumee Ohio , about 5 miles away, during the 1974 model year.

The response: 'no longer affiliated' is light years different than a vacation. It appeared this effort was receiving more positive affirmation than anything we've seen in a very long time, so why the 'change up'?

Even for those of us who got perplexing letters, either no VIN found, or codes without names, etc... it is still a positive. I hope this service continues! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

&quot; As the order page indicates “Pleas allow up to 30 days for delivery of ordered documents.” I would anticipate that we will meet that time frame. Your order was made on 5/29/2014 so I would guess you should have it before 6/28/2014&quot;.

Good grief and what's next, replica Roy docs...or would that be &quot;restoration paperwork&quot;?
Amazingly bad timing w/ these recent events considering the new NCRS service just got going also all the positive the dealer results were creating!

NCRS still accepting $ for the service is good news as whatever happens, they'll most likely process those paid?
Anyone that needs to may be best to get their order underway immediately, just in case any more bad erupts and things change for the worse?
Whatever happens from here, again best wishes to Roy also the NCRS as a whole!

Reading the 'Vette forum thread posts, when the NCRS verifies claims made for cars running through BJ, are they only confirming a specific car was NCRS certified in the past or do they look for key components still being with the cars and report or note in their files when something major's been removed before auction?

I haven't sent in the VIN yet for my Z so I'm sure my number will be pretty high. In perspective, what is really happening here? Is the service affected across the board completely or just a specific car or both just because Mr. Sinor was let go? I see the service is still available on site, but not sure what to expect if and when I apply. What really precipitated all this? Could it be possible that the $50.00 charge was too low and that had set things in motion? Just curious to know what happened, since nothing seems to be too concrete on what I have been reading on other forums, especially the long thread on the Corvette forum. I'm hoping I haven't missed the window for getting the document for my Z.

As I noted in the CF thread, the service provided was to confirm that the car had indeed been judged at an NCRS meet on a given date and had earned an NCRS award; the car wasn't inspected - only its judging/award history (or lack thereof). <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Doesn't seem to be anyone receiving any new ones without Roy's signature yet that I've heard about. A guy over on Team Chevelle did make contact with the new people in charge and this is the response he got.

&quot;Ok, for anyone that is concerned. I just spoke with a couple people at NCRS about the shipping data report program. Without mentioning any names they said that they had some personnel changes and due to those changes the service had been suspended. However a couple of people had recently agreed to take over the service and things should be getting back under way at this moment. Also was told that someone had been processing the information during this suspension but not mailing anything out. So in other words they had a hiccup in the service and are back under way. Was told people should start to receive the information again shortly&quot;

So I take it the only way they will query their information is with a VIN? Seems like if I had the dealer, and the VIN of another COPO car shipped with the one I'm looking for, I should be able to retrieve its VIN? Am I correct that they won't execute this way?

Since they have the records in a database on a computer they could for example query the database on cars with a manufacturing month sent to a specific dealer and get a list of VIN's.

But depending on how they have made the interface to the database it might be difficult to get the data. My guess is that the interface only have a field for a VIN with a search button.
