any thoughts on the value of a 1974 L82 long-block? over $500?

What's it out of specifically? Corvette? Camaro? Auto or 4 Speed? Honestly I think around $400 give or take a few bucks is spot on. Trying to find the right buyer would be the hard part.

If the components are original it should be a 4 bolt #010 block, heads will be #881 castings with 2.02/1.60 valves[74cc chambers] and it will have a steel crank and forged rods. Seems like a good platform to build from provided there are no issues with the individual pieces. There are probably lots of small blocks floating around...but if it is all together in one place that helps. $500 would be a great price...I'm sure you could get more...especially if it has all the tin and bolt on stuff.

If that long block was closer to me I would be all over it. The engine had everything a 350LT-1 had except the high compression pistons, aluminum intake, solid lifter cam and the Holley. I had a L82 in a 1973 Z/28 with a close ratio Muncie and 4:10 posi rear end. I surprised allot of big block Chevelles back when I was sixteen years old and that engine never gave me a bit of trouble. If I remember right it also had screw in studs, guide plates, pink connecting rods and forged pistons.

What's the VIN? I'm curious to see how close it is to mine.
