anyone have the magazine article explaining the research? would like to see that.. also, anyone know the VIN of this car?? just curious how far from the last actual VIN? BTW..is the last 69 car known??? probably questions for CRG...

Probably N675xxx.
Not the first time it has been foolishly marketed as the 'last' '69 Camaro convertible. The CRG db has 25 convertible VINs built after this one. It isn't even close to last one built.

Sequence of build for the unit would be the key element as to what VIN# actually ended up being last off the line.

Here is another "last one built" on ebay
ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/331292548950?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageNa me=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)
Adds about as much value as this:
This is believed to be (but cannot be documented) the very last Camaro built with heavy duty battery and cooling, on a Wednesday, after 8 pm, during a full moon while Grumpy Jenkins was smiling.

My Z/28 is the last one (or first one or only one) that was built on May 15 1969 that ended up in Sweden. Must be worth some extra money and awards...

That's not a smile...that's a facial seizure caused by the unstoppable gravitational attraction due to the close proximity of two certain celestial objects. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

The VIN for the car is 124679N675217 - 08D car. Discredits a nice car with a stupid claim.

The focus on the VIN# alone will normally get you to the day of assembly, however the actual final assembly date could be influenced by a number of overall factors which include:
Pre-production hold at Fisher Body.
Body Bank hold at Fisher Body.
Post start production delay at Fisher Body. (set off)
Cycle bank hold at Chevrolet.
AGR Repair hold at Chevrolet.
Repair hold in the repair lot at Chevrolet.
The car was considered production complete when the car was bought out by the inspector and moved to the OK lot.(ready to ship)
Finally the VIN# has some value for assembly date estimation purposes. to be clear the "Units" as they were called = were built in assembly sequence not VIN# order.

Saying "vin#" is saying "Vehicle identification number number" The # is not needed.

Yes you are right... Everybody here likely knows what VIN means.
I used it in context the same way as historically GM used it (#) as an identifier for the dealers or alternately called it the "serial number" at the assembly level.

Agreed.
Just let the car be what it is, and let it sell on its own merits.
It's not like you're buying Jon Voight's LeBaron, right?
And I also agree on the vin terminology. It is one of my pet peeves to refer to the "vehicle identification numer number".

Not sure how that's relevant here. That's relevant within a day, not months.
O8D is nowhere near the end of production.
