does anyone have or used to have a 68 Chevy II with the 737 (dark blue vinyl with cloth) trim code? Mine has been covered a couple of times and I can't find a picture or donor car to look at to see if I know exactly what It should look like. I have found an original bolt of the fabric used for the inserts but am not sure if the standard bench and the deluxe bench setup were stitched in the same way (one may have used more vinyl than the other)If anyone has a pic or knows for sure let me know, the guy that is rebuilding my seats says on the standard interior the cloth would go all the way across and the deluxe would have breaks on each side and the middle for blue madrid vinyl. Thnks in advance. Tommy

Try looking in a brochure with all the models in it. That usually will show the various interiors.

thanks, I have looked in one brochure but it only showed a four door with the blue cloth. I remembered I had seen a junked 68 in Linden,TN with A cloth bench so I went back today and took a few pics of the seats. It was the same as mine except 741(gold) instead of737(blue). Should be no problem now, Thanks again.

I have a freind who has a Blue/Blue 1970
L-78 Nova, unrestored and very original that has the Blue cloth Bench.
I do not know if the cloth would be similar? Just trying to help.

They were both stitched the same way with a 6-8 inch vinyl strip down the middle. I will scan and send you picturs of both.

The interior I looked at today was a standard interior and still had the clear plastic over the seats and was striped cloth across the entire length of the front and rear seats and had vinyl on the upper portion and sides and complete back side of front bench. This car has been sitting probably 20 years or more and was shot to say the least but looked untouched except what the sun and mice had a hand in. I think the deluxe interior had the vinyl in the center sections and had a cloth piece on the back side of the front bench and was a different fabric than the standard cars got. the guy starting the work wants to install the fabric on the back of the bench but I think it should be vinyl?? The pictures would be a great help. I want to make sure I get it right. Thanks again.

It should look like this. The blue cloth has little dots instead of the triangle pattern though. http://www.classicnovas.net/brochure/68-7.htm

Thanks for ther pics bbdon. Those were the same pics I was sending. The gold was described as custom and the blue interior was standard.

Thanks for the pics. the gold was a custom and the blue in that brochure was on a four door. I really don't think my standard interior should have the vinyl strip in the center section between the splits since the two in boneyards didn't. I really need to see a 737 code 2 door to be sure. I have about a month before They start work on mine so If anyone knows for sure let me know. Thanks again.
I don't know if this will help, but I collect Chevrolet Dealership Displays.I have the Paint and Fabric boards from 1969-72.The code 737 shows a swatch of light blue vinyl.no fabric.

Thanks, I think I may have figured this thing out now (I hope). I checked out your homepage and you have a great looking Chevelle.

Hi! As long as we are talking interiors, I have a question about the A-pillars. I've seen a couple of different pairs supposedly for a '68 Chevy II Nova. One pair looked like it was made with a "skin" wrapped around a foam/metal core.
The second pair looked like a molded & textured urethane construction (like a dash pad) with a metal core. It even had GM part numbers on it.
What style is correct? Are both correct? Did GM supply replacement parts in the early 70's that differed slightly in design?
Does anyone have any knowledge about '68 Nova A-pillars?

The A-pillars on my 68 SS are both padded and I purchased a 68 non SS recently for parts and the A-pillars on it were also padded. I saw a set on E-bay once and the guy mentioned something about them being unique to 68's but I don't know if they are or not although several other parts of the 68's interior are unique like the dashpad, instrument bezel, glovebox door, ashtray, front bench seat(no head rests) and position of the door locks which means the doorpanels are unique also.
