Does this car have the aluminum front end?

Tom, alumunum front end was not a available option in 62 even though you could order the parts over the counter. I have a Zip file of 15 photos available for anyone interested. Absolutly beautiful car.
Thanks,

I remember a couple of 62s back in the early sixties that had aluminum front ends. I was wondering if they came from the factory like that or it was an over the counter option. I think it was Don Nichelson's car I seen at Quaker City drag strip, Salem Ohio with the aluminum front end.

Tom, when the current owner purchased this car he had the opportunity to also purchase a aluminum front end which the previous owner had collected over the years, however, the asking price for just the aluminum front end was $30,000. I can not see the point of spending that kind of money to put an aluminum front end on this particular car when in essence all that would be happining would be taking a perfect original survivor car and making it non original. This particular car is so stunning in it's original form I would consider it a travesty to add or subtract anything from it with the exception of bolting on the mounted NOS M&H slicks that do come with the car. Anybody looking for one to stand out in your collection which is also has great investment potential, this is the one! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

WOW! 30K is a lot of money for a front clip! But I would have put on a set of old Caslers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Some people say that there were a few 62 Lightweights built at the factory but I have not confirmed this.

There is one in Chicago that is supposed to be a documented aluminum front end car from the factory. Seen it a Vette fest a few times and at Super Chevy. Marty D. owned it and has changed hands a couple of times in the last few years. Maybe mr.70 has some imput on that car?

Well, let me just say this: sometimes a story gets told for so long, with such conviction that it's taken as gospel when the story made for a good show sign, and, that's about it.

Here is a web page with fifteen photos, click on link and view photos seperately from drop down box that says Album Cover. I think you will all apprieciate this car. Some more history, was raced from 62 thru 64 by Buddy Thompson all thru Oaklahoma and Texas. Was raced for the dealer who owned the car, Bill Moore Chevrolet in Ponca City, Oaklahoma. That dealer owned the car until 1985 when closed down. Went to a private collector in Texas until 1998 to the collection it resides in now.

Tom, I am getting confused here, are we referring to this car of Marty D as being the same car I have for sale? No Marty in this car's background.
Thanks,

I think Tom is referring to the maroon '62 bubble top that has been around the area for a long time. Sorry Motown, didn't mean to get off on a tangent.
