Hey moderators. Looks like we are getting some interesting Members Rides inputs lately. I think it makes sense to have those interested in submitting to send their members rides stories and pix to Bruce (moderator) so that he can put them in a standardized format and title them so we can find them again later on.
Thanks!

----Chandler,,,There are a few (maybe more than a few) loose wingnuts on this site. As much attention as your fine 64 will attract,,,be ready for a few more wise cracks. As for me, I just want to know a bit more about that motors internals as it looks as if it can definetly haul the bacon!!!......Bill S

Thanks.
The block is a 10.2 deck Merlin. 4.5 bore and 4.25 stroke. Flat top JE pistons on 6.800 rods. Cam is a custom roller designed by Kirk Jager and Chris Straub and ground at Bullet, .720 lift. And I promise the following is true,( I get accused of running painted aluminum heads..lol ), the heads are stock LS6 cast iron. The intake is a Brodix HVH with a Pro Systems 1100 Dominator. The reason I point this out about the heads is because the motor made 704 h.p. on pump gas. We tricked the heads into thinking the exhaust flow is better than it really is, using the cam profile.
The first time I had the motor together it made 670 h.p., but I had a ring problem and took it back down. By changing the rings and rehoning the block, it picked up 34 h.p.

It's a Jerico 4-speed. They have no syncronizers, etc, like a standard production transmission and the gears are massive. It's a road race version from a Cup car. Makes a rock crusher sound like a M-20. I don't know if I can load a video or not, but my son recorded a few seconds of us pulling onto the interstate with a cell phone. Let me see if it will load, you can hear the transmission.

Everyone around here runs polished Torque Thrust or GM rally wheels. I caught a hard time from all the locals when I was building the car. They changed their mind when I brought it out. Amazing how many I see now with black steel wheels.

Here's my '69 300 Deluxe SS396 that I recently purchased (Dec. 2). Though not a supercar it is a #'s matching(born with) 396/325, turbo 400, 3.31 1 legger 12 bolt. 106,000 original miles. The car was owned by the same gentleman from 1971 until mid 2011 when it was sold to someone that used it on a partial trade for a real estate deal to the guy that I bought it from(if that makes any sense). The car was originally Burnished Brown with a Champagne painted roof. The car was red when I got it.... so I added the black vinyl top..... I also added the steering wheel... as the original was falling apart.... I also added the wheels and tires... the original SS wheels are in the garage.

Here is a quick background on my car. To compete with the Macho TAs in the 70's that were terrorizing the streets, DKM partnered with Chapman Chevrolet to produce the Macho Z, the Chevy half of the F-body dynamic duo from DKM. In preparation for the 1979 model year, a single 1978 Z-28 Camaro Prototype was converted to a Macho Z.
The Macho Z pictured here is the original 1978 prototype built by DKM for Chapman Chevrolet that was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in 1978 and road tested by industry legend Dave Wallace. It was the only 1978 Macho Z-28 built and has survived after all these years with it's original drive train, koni shocks, dual cat exhaust, Hurst-T shifter and chrome roll bar.
This One of One prototype Z28 is accompanied with a letter of authenticity from Dennis Mecham, GM records, all invoices, build sheet, Hot Rod Magazine License Plate, owner’s manual packet and of course a September 1978 issue of Hot Rod Magazine, and other magazine features including the -Throwback- story in Muscle Car Review-July 2014.
You can check out more info on DKM, the Camaro Macho Z28 prototype, and "Bruise", my one of one Macho Trans Am here: http://machoz28prototype.wix.com/dkm-cars

My 1970 Camaro L78 at the 2011 Muscle Car Nationals...the dark spot at the tip of the hood is where I had my hand every time I shut the hood for 44 years...I have since broken that habit. No restoration, just maintained over the years.

Do you have any pictures from the side and under hood? Do you still have the hood that is on your car from the 80s picture?
Thanks,
Marty
