Hi,
This may seem like a newbie question, but is the flywheel from a SB manual the same as a BB manual?
I am dropping that 402 into a camaro that was a 350/muncie 4spd (it was not matching # previous)and we were not sure if we need to get another flywheel!
Thanks for any help!

Rich,
For original applications, the small blocks used a 10.5" clutch and the big blocks used a 11.0" clutch. The flywheels as well as the bellhousings are specific to each for manual tranns.

I am not sure but I want to say No they are not quite the same. The bolt pattern on a SB is the same as a BB but you can't use it on a BB. Seemes to me that A big block uses a external balance weight which is built on the BB flywheel. Been quite a while since I built one but that sticks in my mind.

They are the same except for the 454 version which is externally balanced.
Not all small blocks used the 10.5", nor did the all the big blocks use the 11.0". The '69 Z28 used the 10.5" whereas the '70 Z28's used the 11.0". I believe the L88's used the 10.5" as well.

I have had both flywheels in my SB Camaro and never had to change the bellhousing.

Marlin, I believe you are correct in all accounts.
