It's been a busy couple of months for the sYc and it's members in the magazines, so I thought I'd post some of them that I've ran across...feel free to join in!

Here's a great shot from SCR6, which was dedicated to Joel Rosen & Motion Performance. The actual article is an interview with Marty Schorr, who was Motion's "PR" man, but they managed to get a shot of Marty, Steve, & Joel while at SCR6...Marty is also dedicating a section of his current work (a book about Motion Performance) to the sYc & the Supercar Reunion.

As more and more of the supercars make it into print, I think there seems to be a common theme, whether old or late model, and that is performance. After all, that is what these cars are about. Glad to see more and more supercar owners enjoying their cars the way they were meant to be.

Tom and Rob:

I got my issue of Chevy rumble, and was pleasantly suprised to see your Yenko Nova. Your Yenko Camaro is in the lastest super chevy. I believe it is in a small article close to the front of the magazine. The Yenko Nova looks great. What kind of e.t.'s does that thing run? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif Rob, you done any work to your LS1 SS yet?

Jeff, might want to book a flight to St. Louis around the first of Sept, as rumor has it will be making a return engagement at SCR8. Mark and JR were plaqued by ignition problems the first time around, but I think JR and Rob have discussed this and firguerd out where the problem was. As with many of the cars that race at the Reunion, it is worth the price of admission just to see this car make a pass. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

That Z-28 was pretty much always like that. It had skinnys up front and wide wheels and tires on the rear It had the original Goodyear Polys and wheels on it when I sold the car to Gary Baker in Meadville, PA. I had to get the front end aligned when I put the original wheel and tire combo back on it. Ken Pascoe then bought it and then it went to Pat Joiner, and it did go to another member here. I purchased it from Don White. I have a bunch of pics I took and copies of all the paperwork that car had with it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

That is correct regarding the cam, that car also had GM High Impact drag gears in it. When Gary bought the car from me, I gave him the smog set up , original gears in the replacement gears GM box and I believe the original bump stick as well as other original parts that belonged to that car. The smog set up is mint as it was taken off the car almost immediately. That car had the build sheet, protecto plate, original owners manual etc. When I fired the car up in my garage Gary's eyes lit up, that car does sound awesome , I know a Mopar fan down the street from me was glad I sold it he did'nt like the idea of a small block blowing away his Hemi car. Don White had the exhuast put on it, it's a flow master system with custom bent 3" pipes with the factory chrome extensions it fits perfectly. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

DaJudge, those gears and bumpstick never made it to Pat when he got the car, but a host of other NOS and original pieces did, including that smog system. I wondered who had that system put on. It was actually a 2-1/2" system with the 40 series mufflers and they did sound good. We were going to put the original manifolds and exhaust back on the car, but it would have killed the engine from the amount of backpressure it would have created. Now the system is gone and a set of 18" x 3" collector extensions that I fabricated are in place. It gives the car a killer Super Stock sound! All the current owner needs is a set of 10" wide slicks and it would jerk the front wheels off of the ground! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif The original owner stated that it scared the Hell out of him when he first got it back from Jenkins/Strickler, I will have to agree!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif..........RatPack..............

I believe that Tom Schlauch(TJS44) has his 1969 Trans Am with the RAV motor on the cover of a Pontiac High Performance Magazine( I don't remember the name...that's what happens when you get old)...I briefly looked at the magazine at the store, though I haven't bought it yet. Since I already get too many magazines...I got the evil eye from my wife when I was looking at it. I'll have to go to the store "alone" and score it.

Anyways, nice write up and pictures Tom...and congratulations! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif.

Spike TV "AutoRox" 90 min special - January 25, 2005

On January 25th, Spike TV will be airing a 90 minute special program that's basically a televised car show for invited participant cars of various years/makes/models. The Inciner8or [LV's '57 Chevy convertible with 8 turbos] and the HRSS-454 were invited, with the Inciner8or being the feature car. The show is filming all this week inside the huge Barker Hangar, at the Santa Monica Airport, CA. The Inciner8or will be center stage during the 90 minute show, except to shuttle celebs from back stage to center stage throughout the show. Jay Leno called LV yesterday to arrange a private viewing of both cars this week at the set, so I wonder if they'll both be based in Las Vegas after the show, or not. More info about the show at: www.autorox.com/rsc/ (http://www.autorox.com/rsc/)

Here is a shot of both cars yesterday at the Butler Hangar on the ramp of the Santa Monica Airport...

General question....what is Leno realy like? Is he really a car guy who would get in and get his hands dirty or is he a guy who has money and that is the only reason he is in the car hobby? In other words, if he were poor....would he be like me and be doing a "resto" in his three car shop?

Charley Lillard
01-19-2005, 05:56 PM
I met Jay last year and got a couple hour tour of his shop. He is a absolute car nut before anything else. Very nice guy that is not talking down to you at all. He is very hands on with his stuff and probably knows more overall car info than most of us. His shop is about 3 miles from the studio. I got the impression that he is at the shop daily doing car stuff and then heads to the studio in the afternoon for the show taping. He was explaining the carb to me on my Yale motorcycle. Think nothing but nice things about Jay. One of the better car guys out there.

Should be soon though. And while you are at it, there are a couple of more to watch for. Muscle Car Enthusiast notified me that are article on SCR7 will in their next issue, and also should be some coverage in upcoming issues of Super Chevy's Camaro, Chevelle and Nova mags.

That book by McClurg is SWEET...lots of good reading and pictures in that thing. But have you seen the series of posters he's done? One set is vintage Pro Stocks only, another was vintage S/SS cars, gassers on one, diggers, funnys, and more...cool, cool, and cool! I think we ended up with ALL of them!

You know there is something wrong with this hobby when someone who did nothing but happen to have the cash on hand(no locating, researching, documenting, etc.) buys a car then when the ink still isn't even dry on the new title tries brokering it. Eventually is successfull less than a year later and feels the need to publicly "slap" someone for an article in which they get mentioned in a favorable light. Sorry for the post, but as someone that has publiclly been "slapped" here I didn't think Rick deserved that comment. He is nothing but a stand up guy.

Happy Mother's Day Frank...I see on the misfit forum you took 7 whiny little girls out for a lesson in manners. I'm glad to see you using your real name over there too, instead of trying to disguise yourself behind some ficticious alias username with a transparent agenda to deceive. Oh, and just so you know...if you're in the mood to sell that red Deuce, I'll get ya out of it before dark tomorrow for more than McClurg thinks it's worth.
