View Full Version : Needed: rubber seal for steering column joint

Does anyone out there an extra one of these rubber seals? It covers the universal joint inside the steering column coupling. This is for my 72 Trans Am, though it is a common part for all GM steering columns through the 70's. As you can see the original was fried in the previous owner's engine fire. New or used would be fine, I'm just trying to keep the dirt out. Thanks, NJSteve

I am not sure about your car but up until very recently, these were still available from Chevrolet (Camaro). I think I paid around $6 the last time I got one from them. Check them out if you have not already.

There was/is a big thread on this in the ORIGINAL Forum at www.nastyz28.com (http://www.nastyz28.com) As I recall the factory price was much higher than $6.00, but someone researched a generic replacement........I'll try and search for the thread and post.......

the one for a Chevelle is different and is still available part # 7802919 Dealer cost is about $7

I found one on ebay for a Jeep and it turns out the part# in your link is the same one. Looks like we're in business.
