Gosh...no need for Thanks, BelAir62, it truly was my pleasure and besides, I couldn't have done it without you and JohhnyCat right there beside me!
Xplantdad; your pictures are absolutely awesome! I also walked the rows and shot every car, but somehow was so caught up in looking at all the neat stuff in the other displays that I forgot to shoot any pictures of it. As for burn-out pics, I think I caught just about every car on the way out and you know I had a great spot.
Thanks also go to Dana Forester; a fine artist with a beautiful and if all goes well, Dana will be the Spring '07 Chevy Vettefest "Featured Artist".
Saturday night dinner with the Barnhardts was a real treat too, and hearing about his collection was the icing on the cake.
Stefano and SixtiesMuscle; you guys are my Heros and I appreciate all you do for me and for Chevy Vettefest.
Helen; it is always a pleasure talking with you and your lovely daughter, you two are true ambassadors of the sport.
Xplantdad; can't wait to see the video! Great to meet you in person.
Each and every car there was a real treat to see and watching many of them run really got my heart pounding.
I have only one thing to say to Charlie...can I have THEM?

Brian and Joe are the best in the business, bar none. Everything they do amazes me, and this latest Yenko Nova is no exception. I also agree its ultra cool to be able to let folks see just how in-depth the detail of a SCW resto gets. I'm fortunate enough to live close by, and get to see their work in the various stages of completion. I've always said that much of the stuff they do will never ever be seen when the car is totally complete, yet they do every single detail with factory assembly line accuracy just the same. I think there were at least 10 people around this car every second of the weekend it was outside of the trailer. I never did get a chance to get any good pics as a result, but am glad someone else did. I'd also like to thank the SCW for helping me get my collection of memorabilia safely to and from SCR each year. Thanks guys.

What a great reunion. I want to thank everyone responsible for making this show happen. What a great bunch of car guys and gals. Everything was perfect from the racing (The pit crew repairing that rear at the track was awesome), to the banquet (Joe did an outstanding job)to the show. And what capped it off was going go-cart racing. What a competitive bunch. Well Charley started in the pole position and proceeded to get lapped by every single racer on the track...honestly. Then he came up with a lame excuse. Thanks again to everyone.

Go carting was an impromptu event. Problem with Charley is that he presents too much surface area to the wind and creates drag. Even though his head and neck are much like a pencil there was just too much sticking up to overcome the drag. Colin and Mike G paid the dude off to give them a fast cart since they knew they were at a distinct disadvantage with me on the track. I took a 2 person cart just to demonstrate the capabilities of proper technique.NOt sure what happened there but I looked over and Mike G was sideways in the tires and all crossed up by a 12 year old kid http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

That crazy women was also a menace on the track. Before the race started she was penalized for unfair practices and had to start last. She past Charley as well. Steve B. tried to take me out a few times, but he was left in the dust. I believe Colin ultimately was the winner/cheater.

I am curious to read more about the above three axle stacker trailer.......and its primary purpose (race car or just expensive trailer to move multiple show cars).....
My NHRA race car friend Jeff Lane had the below trailer built in Kentucky(almost$100K). He puts two race cars on upper deck and only Scion (box looking car) golf cart and minibikes on lower level along with all the extra parts and tools....
I would also like to read and see comments on other guys misc tag a long trailers (20'-24'),at SCR9 and there tow trucks and HONEST Fuel Milage............

Say, does anyone know who the was reponsable for doing that crazy burnout at the end of the show....I believe they were part of the Camaro Club parked outside.
The car was a Blue 69 Z-28 Camaro....he lost control, locked up the brakes and then did a 180 degree turn....almost like that of a Vintage Big Wheel.
Guys like this ruin events such as the SCR....he was lucky not to run into anyone, especially the Yenko that pulled out in front of him.
If anyone knows of or has any pictures of this person....please notify Tom Clary. He should be band from the SCR event.

Just one of the many benefits of privately renting the whole damn place for the day...It's not often mentioned, but I think its awesome that the sYc essentially has complete and unlimited access to one of the nation's biggest and most state of the art drag racing facilites for the whole day each year. First I would like to say thanks to Dan Vasic for pointing out the big wheel slide... Then to Darren for calling me a big jerk... I know you guys are playing and I can take it, but when Bruce who has no idea what went wrong says I should be banned because my car was out of control???? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif that pisses me off... I was going to do a burn out and I didn't rev the Z high enough to spin so I got a second instead... As for the the slide, my porportioning valve has some trouble some times and likes to stick the back brakes... This just happened at as I was trying to stop at the cross road, I tapped on the brakes twice before I had to lock it up to stop before that Yenko turned into the lot... As for the 180??? it was more like a 90 and I had no other choice in the matter but to do the cool Big Wheel slide... I was in control the whole time and I wouldn't have done anything different if I had to do it again!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Last shot of the night is of Dan Vasic(postsedan) and the wonderful Chevelle post that he restored just in time for Vettefest. I recently found out that this is the FIRST Chevelle in the history of Vettefest that has won the top gun award (I hope I got that right http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif)
Dan, it was a pleasure to talk with you. What a great guy...and a great car!
Look for more pics of it tomorrow! I'm tired now!

Good call Bill. You can tell from the color of the metal in the break that there was pre-existing fracture.

Just got back in town from SCR 9 last night after rejoining my family who were on vacation down near Charleston, SC during the SCR9 and Ernesto. Thankfully Ernesto didn't pack the punch people thought and it landed about two hours up the coast from where we were. I was able to breathe a nice sigh of relief when we found out the storm lost it's punch and was not coming near us. As of late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning I thought I was going to miss the show because I had to make sure my family was safe and sound. At this point, my car was already on the road and heading north with out me but I figured I could always catch a flight if and when it cleared which it did, so it all worked out at the end.
This was my first reunion and I HAD A BLAST!!!!! Everyone I met was extremley nice and super friendly. It's funny to see the faces of the people who frequent here and match them up with the preconceived images I had conjured up after reading these posts for the last 2 + years. It was just as I thought.....never seen a bunch of uglier looking mugs before in my entire life http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I had a chance to meet some people like Andy M, Jesse, Steve, Mark , Rob, Tom, Darren ( who was parked in front of me Saturday-very nice car too ) and Dana as well. There were others I wanted to meet and talk to them about their car(s) but was unable to.
The racing on Friday was awesome to watch and next year I hope to be participating in that. The dinner Friday night was perfect and Joe Barr was in rare form during the auction. It's hard to believe that this was the first time you did something like this....I think there could be a cable access show in the future for you~
The show on Saturday was beyond my expectations and I was able to see a lot of cool rides. Some I had heard and read about before but never been able to see them in person. Others I had seen before but couldn't get up this close to view. Thanks go to Bruce for taking all those pictures so the folks back at home who could not make it could get an idea what is was like.
As I was telling Mark Hassett on Friday night, the thing the made the event so special for me was the out pouring of help that came out from this group when the axle broke. To be standing in the hall and watch the 68 L88 drive in, just hours after the mishap was an extremely nice sight to see. People who don't know car guys that well think all we do is drink beer, talk about fast cars and even faster women(OK we do....) but what they don't talk about is the way we all pitch in and do what we can when things like that happen. To me, that is WHAT is ALL about. People will always have faster cars( and even faster women for that matter too) but people don't always help others out when the help is needed. It was nice to see that.
This was a great show and one I hope to make a return visit next year and the years to come. Thanks to all the people who put in countless hours in gettng this show ready. The effort and hard work you put forth is very much appreciated.
All you folks rock http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif Thanks for making it a nice weekend.
