1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Anyone know anything about this car, says its undocumented, with less than 20 LS6 converts built, it would be great if this one was real.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
I think most of the experts here would agree that at least 100 were built, although the number is not known.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Thanks, I had always heard the # as less than 20, thanks for the info.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
. A/c is incorrect for an ls6 , no m21 either. Lots of issues here.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
AND NEVER AC WITH LS6
|
Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Sam, what manual transmissions came in LS6 cars?
|
Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Ls5s & ls6s both received m22s if a manual tranny was ordered.
|
Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Solid lifter cars didn't get AC if I remember right. Not buying the ad.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Why on earth would a company like R&S agree to such a write up? A VIN stamped into an over the counter block, a 1969 model year trans in a 1970 car and call it date code correct, an incorrect 12 bolt, plus A/C?? That is one of the worst write-ups I've seen. Good grief, is it close to April 1st?

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
i see "date coded" has replaced NOM.
it cracks me up the bullcrap these people do. |

I don't think they care. They forward discription the consigner provides. I advised them of another vehicle that says it is "numbers matching" and is not. No reply, or change in the AD. DL |

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Good info, buyer beware and hopefully the buyers will be informed and do their homework, I knew you guys could shed some light on this. The only LS6 convert I have ever seen or been around came into a collection here in NC, needing restoration, and it left the collection the same way. Thanks.

No, it was a red/black stripes, and black top car.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
At last count I WAY more than 20 real LS6 converts in my data base but it has been awhile since I added them up. Many of these are unknown and private. I feel that Chevrolet likely produced around 200 of these cars. There are a LOT of fake clone LS6 converts out there.

Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
Rick, of those 36 on the list , how many have factory buildsheets? If there indeed are 36 "for sure" cars, how does one come up with a production number based on those 36 found?[or are you using other data?] 200 would assume that roughly 1 in 6 have been found. Is there more to the 200 production number other than guessing the mortality rate/discovery rate of other cars ie ZL1s and the like ? I know you follow these cars,so you would probably have a better idea than most.

Subject car VIN 136670L176442
Can the % of Canadian delivered cars in the database be shared?. ~ Pete |
Re: 1970 LS6 Chevelle Convert
I only have cars in my data base with real buildsheets or proven history, none that I count are speculative.
The 200 is purely a guess based on statistics and percentages and are (my) thoughts only. In all likelyhood that were considerably more than that. I remember back on the 70's and 80's when I owned several SS427 Impala's many people said they only made about 50 of them as there were so few cars around. I always thought the numbers were WAY higher than that. Now real cars are all over the place so one just never knows. |
