Amazing... fantastic....
too bad so many get torn down and replaced by nothing but a vacant lot. |

Re: IL. Texaco Station Brought Back
Love it!
Kudos to Bruce N. for all his efforts, certainly well deserving to be the man that wears the star! Looks like a Trico wiper station in the garbage pit, too new an era to save/reuse here? ~ Pete |

Hi Rick, I think I saw that in the 'after' pics, but pardon my ignorance....what purpose does that serve? Don't think I've ever seen one before. |
Re: IL. Texaco Station Brought Back
You could get a drink of water from a sink faucet,w/o having to cup your hands.
Some sodapop vending machines had them as an option on their sides as well. |
Re: IL. Texaco Station Brought Back
Sweet! Well done; I applaud his efforts.
We were driving through Michigan's Upper Pennisula the other day and saw a dilapidated old gas station and I had the thought that it would be a cool place to work on/store old cars. BTW - he mentioned the old fuel oil tank. Somehow every time I purchase a property I end up with an old fuel oil tank to be gotten rid of!~ K |

My Dad worked as a parts man in a Massey Harris dealer in the early 50s and they had a Coke machine like this one in the 'Showroom'. I remember standing on the empty Coke cases to get a drink from the fountain. The water was so cold it hurt your teeth! http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m.../VENDO31_1.jpg I found an identical machine (with the fountain attached) in an Antique store in Springfield a few years back. At $1200, I was tempted to take it home. |
