whats everyones take on a .100 overbore on a 512 block..its a may 69 block..thanks

Only one way to know for sure, have the bores sonic checked.

----Albert,,,As far as overbores on 512 blocks go,,,not all 512 blocks are created the same. Some were able to take a .100 overbore easier than others. A good HP engine builder would probably be able to help you. I know, for example, that the 512 I ran in Red Alert was a 1973 date code and my engine builder (Jimmy Reid in Massachusetts) told me that it was a particularly good casting.......Bill S

Al,
Eric's advice is good advice. And Bill, 512's were only produced up into the 71 model year. If your block was a 73 casting it most likely was a 289 casting #.
I've seen a few 512's that were advertised as .125 over @ swap meets, but that would make me nervous.
I'd have it checked thoroughly by a competent machinist if it really needs to go .100 over or I'd look into sleeving it if replacement isn't a better option.

Thanks guys..sonic testing we go..if I need to can you put 8 sleeves in a motor??..bought the block right

Stock/Super Stock racers (and some Corvette guys) do it all the time, but you're going to have some $$$ tied up in it. Better have a machinist you <span style="font-weight: bold">really</span> trust!

Not sure sleeves would be worth it Albert. JMO
