Yankee Air Museum Burns to the Ground
I know a few of you guys are into the old war birds. This was a VERY sad day for the Museum and those in the area that are close to it. Lots of memorabilia and artifacts gone ........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

That is sad.We are losing are surviving Vets every day,we don't need to lose any remaining artifacts from that era as well.I commend the fast acts of those who were able to move some of that heavy equipment out of Harms way,as fast as they did. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: Yankee Air Museum Burns to the Ground
I heard they lost a couple of planes when the story first broke. Any idea what they were? I'm glad the B17 made it out. They have always been my favorite WW2 bomber.

Re: Yankee Air Museum Burns to the Ground
Sad, sad ordeal...second story mentions the loss of a B-24...absolutely horrible. I've read more books on the B-17/24/25 than I care to think about, as my grandfather was a B-25 armor with the 345th in the South Pacific. Air Apaches... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

That hit home!! I am a World War II aviation buff, because I would like to know more about what my grandfather might have worked on as a mechanic in the South Pacific. Unfortunately he passed away in 1998. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif R.I.P Sgt. Frank McCutcheon 1915-1998
