1967 festival IPC car E-Bay
Looks like this may be a real festival car. Will need everything as the car appears to have lost its idenity. Good clues are there however. The patch of blue paint on the corner of the steering wheel, the blue seat belts, Vin tag and trim tag look correct and it has the early style traction bar. I wonder if the Pace car registry Mike R. has the vin recorded? My lists would show this vin to be in the ball park for production as listed by the seller. Charlie have a look...

Also has blue peeking through on the rear side wells for the convertible. Weren't the actual pace cars 350 hp cars? But with the 375 hp Steel crank and then autos or were they 375 hp cars that were bumped down to the 350 HP cam shaft so they were better for the Automatics?

Re: 1967 festival IPC car E-Bay
Most of the 396 Festival Pace cars are 325hp except for the very few 375hp cars. No 350hp. There were very few BB Festival Pace Cars made so this car has brought up a lot of interest.
But there are some big issues with the car. I talked to the owner of this car on the phone and we talked quite a bit about it. One of the issues I had was the trunk pan. If you look in the trunk, besides being patched, it has a 1968/69 trunk pan, shock towers and rear seat support. Totally incorrect for 1967. In this configuration that would mean the shocks are staggered which is also incorrect for 1967. He said he never realized the difference. He informed me the original engine is also missing. The quarters and wheelhouses had been replaced at sometime and from the looks of it, the trunk pan. Unfortunately with the incorrect parts. It has standard seats instead of deluxe. The numbers add up to be a true Pace Car but there is no paperwork with the car. He's not selling it cheap and it would cost a pretty penny to make it correct again. Rick H. |

It also has '68 hood louvers https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif Bruce [/ QUOTE ] Easier to change those than it is to take off the rear spoiler.. I guess somebody didn't like Bright Blue! |

Think of the cost of correcting the trunk, shock towers, seat back support, etc... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Re: 1967 festival IPC car E-Bay
For a real BB Festival car... might be cost effective to fix it. Cannot be more than a few left. My list shows only 5 BB Festival cars (and one 375 HP) (Belongs to Charlie).
The rest were SB 350/295 cars. Pretty Rare car if you ask me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: 1967 festival IPC car E-Bay
I suppose it could be cost effective to fix it if there was enough supporting documentation to prove it actually IS a festival car.
Whenever I see cars "pieced" together with different year parts on them...It kind of makes me wonder. Did the guy prefer the look of the '68 hood scoops better? As Rich pointed out, it has the wrong seat support, trunk pan, etc. and the engine is non-numbers matching. This car just strikes me as a big https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Bruce |
Re: 1967 festival IPC car E-Bay
Well if you dismiss a trim tag swap then the car is what it is. With festival cars documentation is almost non existant. The trim tag and Vin tag will verify IP track usage in this instance as the tag bears 0-1 and has the special stripe dash.
In reguard to your comments concerning the car being pieced together - I recall simular talk about the relative value in restoring Yenko and 69 COPO Camaro's as recent as 8 to 10 years ago that were also discovered "pieced together". I guess time will tell- or in the instance of this particular car - the bidders will speak in a final manner in about a week, and as of now they are bidding $27K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
