68 camaro cowl tag

my friend brought by some old cowl tags of 67-69 camaros he had parted-out years ago and while looking through them i spotted this odd cowl tag, first i noticed the corvette bronze color code,then i spotted the numbers in the upper right hand corner???? take a look.

Van Nuys built car, nobody knows what their codes were.
I'm guessing that in '69 the code #'s got moved to the bottom of the tag. |

Any chance I can get pics of all the tags sent to my email address. did he keep a record of the VINs that went with the cowl tags??

then i spotted the numbers in the upper right hand corner???? take a look. [/ QUOTE ] My Van Nuys 68 Z28 has numbers and letters in the same location. Best guess is that they are Fisher body numbers assigned to the sheetmetal body before final assembly. Correct me if I'am wrong Gents. |

The are Fisher Work Order numbers. The determine the day and sequential order the bodies were to be built in. A001 would be the 1st body built on the first day of the month. Months correspond to the build date on the tag, not necessarily the calendar month. LA built other cars besides Camaros, so A001 could be a Camaro and A002 could be an Impala, or Chevrolet.
