Van Nuys built car, nobody knows what their codes were.
I'm guessing that in '69 the code #'s got moved to the bottom of the tag.

My Van Nuys 68 Z28 has numbers and letters in the same location. Best guess is that they are Fisher body numbers assigned to the sheetmetal body before final assembly.

Correct me if I'am wrong Gents.

The are Fisher Work Order numbers. The determine the day and sequential order the bodies were to be built in. A001 would be the 1st body built on the first day of the month. Months correspond to the build date on the tag, not necessarily the calendar month. LA built other cars besides Camaros, so A001 could be a Camaro and A002 could be an Impala, or Chevrolet.
