Default Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 / 350hp, California car, docs

Mike,

It is a nice car, and reasonably priced, IMO. The reason you got the comments on the plate was because it is out of kilter with the car. Being a Camaro guy, I never noticed if there was a "black plate" on any other make/model after mid-1969. Didn't care. Just knew for certain no Camaro after mid-1969 had one. I was kind of being polite, but I knew there was no way a July 1970 initially registered vehicle in this state could have a "black plate" on it, especially with that late 1968/early 1969 alpha numeric sequence. And the absolute latest a 1970 year sticker would have been issued would have been December 31, 1969, seven months before the car was registered, so there was just no way.
But I like your car. In 1991 there was a 72-72 1969 Z/28 for sale in Orange (CA) I was looking at. There was a freshly restored 1970 SS454/450HP (black/black) sitting next to it. Beautiful automobile. Although salivating over it, I bought the Z. I'm a Camaro guy. The Chevelle was stolen and never seen again.
