in that artical they say don yenko spent big money on alum. blocks before GM put them in for him .
so did some yenko get alum blocks,if so are they considered a yenko ZL1.???

Don't know if they where installed in the cars from Yenko but I have seen a Yenko aluminum block with Yenko embosed in the casting.

I always thought that it was the other way around, GM did the alum. BB's for the Chaparell program then incoporated them into RPO ZL1. I thought Yenko got involved after '69 and had them produced for his racing parts catalog, and mainly for his Marine unit.

Mr. Holub has an aluminum Yenko block, as shown in the Hot Rod article - check the pics!

They were not installed in the Yenko cars, they were sold to racers over-the-counter. Yenko sold a lot of them to his Marine customers, some dirt track racers also bought them. I've seen several for sale at Carlisle swap meets, sometimes complete engines - carb to pan, fly to fan!
