Engine stop lift bracket - what gives?

This was purchased about two months ago. Finally got around to test fitting it today. Bracket itself is fine and lines up with the manifold just right. However, the length of the one chain is not even close, even with the fat washers behind the bracket at the bolt holes. Seems this chain should be about 5 3/4" rather than 5". This is for a 69 Chevelle BB.

Were there various lengths of these chains for different applications? Wonder if this chain got swapped out at some point over the years.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I realize these were not used that often on Chevelles due to the throttle setup, but I know there are several members on here that have these sitting on their shelf and was hoping for a comparison measurement of what you might have. Thanks.

Is it just a matter of space and sizing.
As in the A-arms are further outboard of the eng & manifolds on a Chevelle vice Camao/Nova so the cable is comming up short when used on a Chevelle?

I feel your assumption is correct. The part number on my box is different and does not refer to any specific model(s), whereas the one in your link refers to Camaros and Novas. That's why I'm thinking (or guessing really) that there were different lengths to the cable in question and I ended up with a short one rather than the longer one. But what the heck do I know??????? I know of three 69 Chevelles with this attached and they didn't have the problem I'm facing. When I look at pictures of one of those cars, and also a picture of the same package on an Ebay ad from last November, this cable looks a little longer in those pictures than the one I've got.

Don...I have a cable that is 13 and 3/4&quot; long when measured end to end. It's not NOS. It has been used, but looks to be in good shape. If you can use it, send me your address.

Tony - good to hear from you and thanks for the offer pal, but it's the short cable I'm dealing with.

Dustin - Ya, they all look the same from a distance.

Bill Rose contacted me and said he had to loosen the shaft, etc. in order to get his to fit. He sent me some pictures and it is really snug.

I contacted Greg Cullum and Dan Vasic last night and they sent me these pictures. My setup is #325875 which is apparently not correct for a Chevelle, it should be #320266. The correct cable is in fact about 1/2 inch longer and the holes are &quot;elongated&quot; as well. At this point I will take their word for it.

Don...I'm no expert on this but in my search for a kit for my 69 Nova BB I'm told I need PN 330266.
325878 is for SB Camaro, Nova, Chevelle
325875 is for BB Chevelle, Impala.

Someone else chime in if this is not correct !

the ones that DON'T say for Camaro or Nova are for the Impala / B body Chevys. They never made a kit for the Chevelle as they had a cable throttle that did not stick. The reason no makes are stated on the instructions and box is because it is for all big cars, no others. They DID make kits for trucks and vans as well.

I have a picture of the two BB kits side by side and the ONLY difference is the length of one cable ... will try to dig up the photo and post it.

That might explain why my Chevelle does not have one.....knowing my car's original owner, if there had been a recall recommending these to be installed, she would have made sure she got one.
